On to cassettes. In my car I have a cassette deck, so I busted out some old tapes. then I realized, most of the stuff I played the hell out of was on cassette, on CD most of the stuff would get a few spins then nothing, only a few rare CDs would get heavy rotation without me getting tired of it. Something about tape playback that sounds better than cd, the music feels more alive, like it's different each time, likt it stays new, regardless of noise or freq response. CD's are a shytty format, just like tapes were a shytty format, meand to be portable, vinyl is still alive because cd's are compromised. I'm no audiophile, but seriously, isten to an old tape and then a new CD< the old tape gets me everytime. I just got a 25 year old tape deck/ receiver, and you know, it sounds better than all these mini componant systems I hear at best buy. and I found this in the trash. I forgot about analog tuners, I can get radio stations tuned in much better than with any digital tuner I have ever used cuz of the resolution that's possible. plus, inside the unit there is a big honkin iron antenna that makes radio come in so clear my friends think it's from a cd. No noise, everything comes in amazing, and the system has boom like nothing else Ive heard recently.
And it was trash, someone chucked it cuz the turntable was busted, I just ripped it off the top. Recording stuff to cassette sounds great, it has character, and just bumps nicely.
Also, I don;t know what cassette's yall use, but cassettes are 1/8 of an inch, not 1/4". They still sound great, plus, you can't skip to the next song easily, you gotta listen to it. I'm gonna be messing with cassettes from now on. Benyamin is on point, if you're at home, try recording to a cassette, it can add something to your productions even just to listen back to your beats on something different than your computer or whatever. SInce you can get them cheap or free and more money went into them than your soundcard, you should really give them a shot.
