Beej N Dem is the best Slum Village song. It's the original version of We Be Dem and it has a better beat.

I'm still trying to find that song! :x

Damn yo I must be old I am not even into Jaydee that much but I knew all that bout him. The Janet track he did. My homies were rocking Jaydee demo stuff back in 1998-2001. They had peeps back east mailing CDRs and stuff to them in Cali. They were all sayin' "Yo this cat is going to be the next big thing" Then a friend of mine started studying his beats and incorporated ideas into his stuff he was doing on the MPC3000. HMMM.. I think I was still banging out jungle stuff on my SP202 back then and getting into to 2Step.

DILLA DID 2 TRACKS

KANYE DID 9

AND COP AN MPC MAYNE
I HAD AN ASR, YOU'RE ONLY 15....YOU'LL LOSE INTEREST IN IT
JUST COPPED AN MPC LAST WEEK AND I ALREADY KNOW HOW TO USE IT BETTER THAN THE TWO YEARS I HAD MY ASR
THEY ARE NOT VERY USER FRIENDLY

YEAH I THINK DILLA DID THE KEYS OR SOMETHING FOR THE INTRO

DONT TAKE MY WORD FOR IT THO MAN
TO EACH HIS OWN
HAVE YOU EVER WORKED WITH EITHER?
YOU SHOULD **** AROUND WITH BOTH OF THE JOINTS TO SEE WHICH ONE YOU LIKE BETTER

MOST PEOPLE I KNOW THAT HAVE HAD BOTH WOULD MOS DEF SAY TO GET AN MPC
I'VE HAD BOTH AND I DID NOT LIKE THE ASR, SAMPLING IS A **** ON IT BUT I'LL ADMIT THE SOUNDS IS DOPE
BUT THE DRUMS DONT HIT AS HARD FOR SOME REASON

BUT SOME PEOPLE WILL LIVE AND DIE BY THE ASR 10
AND YOU'RE ONLY 15 SO A DRUM MACHINE IS BEST TO LEARN ON
UNLESS YOU PLAY KEYS
CAUSE IF YOU DONT PLAY KEYS, AND YOU BUY A KEYBOARD, SOME OF YOUR SHIT WILL COME OUT SOUNDING A LITTLE NEPTUNISH
THATS JUST ME THO

The ASR sequencer has a bad reputation for being difficult to work with, most cats with an ASR use another sequencer like the MPC. Get the MPC< learn it, then you can use the MPC sequencer to controll anything else you get down the road.

For real, if the mpc didnt even sample I would still use it as the brain of my setup. Controlling my s950 of course

aight no problem....send me a PM later when I get home from work i'll rip the tracks from cd. I will warn you though that the quality is horrendous.....the tracks had far too much treble in them.....shit is piercing but with a little reduction in the high freq you'll be ok.

Has anybody heard the recent shit from JAY DEE? I heard a supposed BEAT CD and it was HORRRRRRRRRRRRIBLE. Sounded like JAY DEE trying to imitate Madlib.....choppy ass samples and no drum sequence......shit was not my flavor at all......it was worse than Dee's awful CLUBBY (FRANK N DANK) type shit......"GET DEM CLOTHES OFF" ---- worst Jdee track ever produced......he was smokin' dust that night.

but yes JAY DEE deserves an award for being one of the most inspirational and most prolific.....he's inspired sooooo many producers....and totally changed the face of hiphop as did pete rock and dj premier and madlib of course....i'm sure there are others but you know.
