EQing heavily before and or after mixing down?

I love sampling in the 60, I don;'t sample elsewhere unless my pads are filled up, I almost never run out of time.

why do you need a 60 if you gotta 3000? Their Midi sequencers are nearly identical. If you're not sampling DRUMS inot the 60 then you might as well sell it. The thing I love about the 60 is how loud you can sample into it.

Elmacaco...do you have a S950? I remember you saying you dig it with the EmaxI right...I like to sample into the S because I can do more with the sample than I could within the 60. Plus the 60 and S950 sound the same to me unless your messing with the variable sample rate option within the S950.


Drumatic...I started out on the 3k but I grabbed a 60 out of curiosity and I like it more than the 3000. As far as having two mp's...that's a secret that I will let you in on later. I got some things in the works right now.... I wouldn't sell the 60 for nothing...nothing all...if I had to pawn off my entire studio the 60 and S950 would stay with me..

I do sample my drums into the 60..but now they are saved as kits on zip disks so I don't count that as samplin drums. Anytime I run over a fresh kick, snare, vocal or whatever I'll sample little snippets into the 60 but I usually run most loops through the S950 and midi it from the 60.

No 950 here, but I just love 16 levels and the slider function, the sampler in the 60 has a peculiar punch that I just love, and the process of sampling in the 60 is so great I can't imagine not doing it at all, or using it's sampler at all. So you do have drums in there, well, enjoy the journey of discovery, there is more in the 60 for you yet, don;t write it off.

What if the 60's slider could be used to truncate in the way the sp1200 does......damnnnnnnnnnnnnn that'd be the shit......it'd make shit move so much quicker as turning a knob 50 clocks to the right and 20 clocks to the left over and over and over again is really really cumbersome.

But yeah........damn that would be first thing on my wish list for the next OS upgrade......damn take the hi-hat decay slider and be able to utilize it to control the start and end points in sound edit mode.......PERFECT!!!

I think that's a tall order, but if possible, then when you hit the after button it could move the soft end.

Instead of workin out your data wheel, try punching in numbers, makes it much faster.

yeah numbers and one right click on the dataknob ( to enter ) , a natural move now . and you know after a little time if it's a 200 or a 300 trunc .

But yeah, it's real easy after a while to know the numbers real well.

I hope all of you are using the play before soft start and play after soft end function, it makes chopping dumb accurate and real fast.

I know this is probably the most newbie question ever asked on this forum, but how do you EQ before you sample if the record is always moving.

Example: I want to EQ the snare at the beginning of the track before I sample it. How can I EQ it?

I know this sounds very confusing...

run the TT outs through and EQ and back spin the record a bunch of times ? Come on, it doesn;t take much thought to figure that out.

i have better experiences with EQ-ing before Sampling' - The 2KXL likes it to consume my Low Bass... So i boost it when i sample. Always get
great results..
