I guess this a newb question

Starting to create my own drumkits, using samples (non drums) and wave synthesis through soundforge.

So far everything is going alright, getting some gritty and powerful kicks that sound real (non 808) from multiple tweeks, but having a hard time getting some snares..

I could always dip into my snare samples, but I like a challenge.. So whats the best way to synthesis a snare? In terms of envelope? Also what
wave would be used? Square, Saw? Not trying to get the 808 sound, just looking to recreate realism..

Well I'll go back to tweeking.. If anyone has any tips, let me know.. After I'm done, and have a few kits, I'll give em away.. Free

I've made my own kicks before but Never a snare cause they were hard and I didn't have the patience, I need to find the patience one day.

try to make substitutes for a snaredrum. a snare is hard to program with synths..
youll need a noise osc, filter & maybe a bit distortion

I don't know how to put this to where you'll really understand it but.........
If you use the Noise wave with half pitch,+2 mod depth,no mod speed,-2 decay and -4 low boost you should have an analog snare. If that makes sense.
