nikenn said he has, and i quote, "seen this happen as a result of using defective/incompatible SIMM chips," which infact opened my eyes to the fact that it very well could be the SIMMs causing the problem.
I spoke to an Akai representative who informed me that some chips are compatible where others aren't.
He said the CL3 chip ISN'T supported and some which are supported include CL2, PC100 and P133. When I spoke to Turnkey, they simply had the categorigal name for their chips, i.e. SIMM-72/16MB, which indicated that they very well might have put in an incompatible SIMM (don't hold me to that, yet to be confirmed!)
What I do recommend DONSAX is that you find out which type of SIMMs were installed in your MPC and find out if they're compatible.
Turnkey are going to look at my MPC today so all shall be revealed!
