Sample Format Compatability For MPC-2000

What sample formats can be loaded into the MPC-2000?
ex: S2000? S20? 2KXL? MPC-3000? ETC.
Also I read on a music store website that EMU and Roland sample formats can be loaded into the MPC2k!? Does that mean all of their formats or selected ones?

Thanks guys, I know some of you are lurkin' waiting for someone to ask this question so you all can rip me a new one. I had someone ask me this today (becuase he is looking into buying an MPC2k or a MPC60) and I wasnt quite sure. So I wanted to make sure I was telling him the right thing.

Have you played Ratchet and Clank for PS2, there is this gun in there called "RYNO" RIP YOU a NEW ONE. I'm pointing it at you right now, haha.
Tell you boy to download the manuals and read them.

Both are good MPC's but make him aware of the limitations of each so he can make a choice according to HOW he wants to produce.

Ooops! I asked that wrong I guess, let me clarify I meant like the PS3(HA!) is the MPC2000 backwards compat(S2000 MPC3000) and cross platform compat? I.E. Roland EMU guitar center said thatthe MPC2000 is. He asked me I was like "ummmm...."

THe xl will read 2K but not vice versa.I'm not sure about the others(60,1k,4k)But i if you convert them to wav, any mpc can read any file.

I do not recall off the top of my head, but this covered very well in one of the OS update addendum (e.g. 1.5, 1.7). You should check there first for the official word. Ain't no one here going to know the answer better than the people that actually designed the machine.

The manual should always be the first place to check. As someone that is "in college doing programming" isn't that one of the fist things you learn to use? When I an working with something I usually have the reference material there for quick checking. Sure beats waiting a few hours for someone to tell me to "RTFM". This really goes for anything, whether I am working on Nuclear Reactors, building a BSD system, or programming in Lisp.

Duude you should learn to read post more closely before you add your two cents. Yo man I was at work yo, so this guy asked me he was thinkiing of biding on a 2000! I asked cuz I told him. I wanted to make sure it was good info I gave him. I dont buy sample CDs I dont need em I make my own sh&^t. On my MP are drum kits thats it homie. So chill on what I should and should not do. Dont be silly. I got the info thanks for the other intellegent replies I recieved.

page 147, 2k classic v1.0 manual says:
"mpc2000, mpc3000, s1000, s3000"

It doesn't say which specific files it can read
but those are the TYPES of disks the 2k can recognize.

Thanks lamp I actually got that cat to look up the stuff online. He came to the same conclusion you did however I had no clue about 3000 compat thats a new one on me. So again I learned something from you and TUTOR. However he kinda stumped me with the EMU and Roland compat. I never knew anyhting about that I searched online and I can only find this statement on sites like sweetwater or guitar center. They must use this as a huge selling point, to move MPC out of the store. I am sure its possible but, just currious what libraries are they speaking of? Thanks again for the info.

You are right. I did read it again, and thanks, I had the right answer. Now we just have to figure out what went wrong. The person that could not look it up in the manual originally or the person they asked that was not able to tell them to look it up in the manual.

Just because a "friend" asked the question does not excuse one for being ignorant. I get asked thousands of MPC related questions every year and I am not the person that pawns it off on someone else (an I also do not collect the same info and make you pay for it). No, I do not know all the answers, but I do know where to find the answers. That in itself is 90% of the work.

2000xl also plays a file name .s1 i dont know if the s1 means s1000..
i got the cd from a friend but the cd only works in the mpc ,, windows wont read it ,,, any one knows any thing about the .s1 file format ??
