newbie recording question...

sorry for a stupid question to you guys, but

if i have a mpc2000xl, asr10 and a dj setup, i would need some kind of multitrack mixer to run all these into right? and run the mixer into the computer to record?

how would i use these together to record one track?

You could either use a mixer or simply use the computer audio interface to record into. It's a matter of your style, budget and comfort. With a mixer, it can be a little easier, but depending on the mixer's features, you may be mixing the signals before you actually "mix" them in the computer software. With the straight computer setup, you may have to record one or two sounds at a time from the MPC and ASR.

Check around for the specofic equipment you think you want and that will give you a better sense of what results you'll get and what you'll actually need or want to deal with.

multtrack program on your computer to record like Cool Edit Pro, Vegas Video, Samplitude, something similiar to these will do or go to hitsquad.com and see what software is out there to choose from.
