MPC-60: OS update / wishlist.....please add your ideas.

I wish for the hi-hat decay slider on the mpc-60 to be utilized as a way of controling the digits in the START and END points in SOUND EDIT mode. I think this request is best represented by the Sliders on the SP1200. I've never been able to truncate samples on any other machine with such ease and speed as I have on the SP. With that being said.....is it possible and wouldn't it be just a matter of adding a few commands to allow the user to either use a knob or the slider to adjust digits in higher or lower increments?

So when you hold down the repeat function the mpc-60 would replay the notes in varying adjustable velocity.....so you could set the first repeat note at 125, second repeat note at 100, 3rd repeat note at 78....and so on and possibly repeat that note 8x before it completely decays.....its dope....I like that.

wow that would be hott! That idea about the slider gets my vote!

Yeah that hi hat slider idea is nice. But I would still like the option of doing the linear truncating also, just in case the slider option wasn't as on point as shaving the actual numbers...

guys....see if you've used the SP12(00) or EMAX you'll understand more clearly. Damn ELMA- i'm sure you understand what i'm saying.....the slider would be sensitive to the 0 axis point of the wave therefore it would jump to whatever increment in order to facilitate the sample truncation process. I mean imagine being able to slide from 0 - 999 in a matter of seconds as opposed to turning the damn knob 50x. You can't all possibly tell me you enjoy turning that knob.....of course you can simply punch in a numeric setting but i'm just thinking of ways to reduce tediousness.

I'll attempt to write to Roger Linn.....i'm telling you that this function could be applied to every single MPC utilizing a hi-hat decay slider. That covers the 60,2000,XL,3000 and so on.

they should have done it on the 4000 since it has more than one slider and is supposed to have everything.

Seriosuly Drumat!c, you need to start punchin in numbers, the number pad is in the center of the machine for a reason, right above the dial for a reason. I never turn the dial 50 times, it basically a fine tune for me, the emax does it backwards, the slider is a course tune and the numbers is the fine. Even on an SP to get precise you need to get with the numbers. Seriously man, if you aren't using the number pad it's like having an arm tied behind your back.

yup... even on small increment changes of 15-20 or so, i ALWAYS use the numeric keys...

using the dial takes way too long for large increments...

You're not a 60 Jedi until you can use the number pad, and the force.

Man, I work with the Emax too and editing on that shit is kind of annoying. Sliders suck.

I much prefer the number pad and knob of the 60. I can edit samples in seconds using the combination of punching in numbers for larger increments and using the knob for smaller increments. The knob enables you to get precise sample points.

Sliders annoy me because they don't have the precise click of the 60's knob thus smaller increments are that much more tricky. It's just a hassle.

Then again, I'm not to much a fan of the whole Emax/SP interface. I prefer seconds and miliseconds to actual samples. I don't know, I just don't think in terms of samples. That's probably another reason I'm not keen on sliders. Though I could see why one would find that idea desirable.

man i punch numbers in but the way the 60 is set up for me....i'm right handed and I use my left hand to punch in the digital keypad and twist the knob....no matter what machine i'm on i'm always using both hands simultaneously. The keypad don't help you any. You still have to sit there and guestimate.....you guys don't understand cus you obviously ain't from an SP1200 background like me.....enjoy your keypad.

Dude, use your right hand for the numbers, you get psychic with the guestimating. I'm right handed too, the 60 is ideal for a right handed person. What you learned on shouldn't matter, using the number pad for surgical shyt is a lot more time consuming that using it to get real close then use the wheel.

Also, are you using the play X feature? That shyt is real ill.

That manual delay thing would be great, and what about a loop function? I really miss the loop function I had on my EPS!

I would love looping on the 60. Man!!!
