Your FIRST choice of weapon huh, what ever happened to a good ole fashioned fist fight :?

- anyone use one?...its a mpc60 killer IMO
You should ahve known you were going to run into BIG differences of opinion in the 3k/60 forum, what were you thinking?

Instead of talking why don't you use your boys 440, use the CALL OUT thread and call out a 60 owner? See what's popping.

You can get 3 of them for how much?

They are cool for what they are, very well thought out machines but didn't come out as good as they could have. They are buggy and have heat issues so if you don;t keep them cool they will crash on you. Great 12 bit sound, nice filters (analog) which can be modified to have resonance controls.

but at 8 voice poly and just an 8 track sequencer it really is a drum machine, 512k memory as well, it';s a unique box and would be great to have around, but it can't tangle with the 60 even without the upgrade, the MPC is a Midi Production Center, the 440 is just a sampling drum machine, you can't really compare them, it's more fair to compare the 440 to the linn 9000 and Sp 12 and 1200.

well said. The linn 900 is great too, I have the first one ever made, but upgraded with forat mods...too bad sampling is a **** on it...i just think if you want something practical then even the 60 isnt your best choice...not like the 440 is but i think its a cooler machine. I can get em for around $1400. You can sample 30 seconds with 512k memory, so thats not an issue. Def, better then a 1200 hands down. I didnt mean to create madd beeef, just wanted to shout out to anyone that uses a 440.

$1400 is higher than the highest Ive seen. Most cats have trouble selling them at $1000 because not many want them.

I don;t know if I would say it was better than a 1200, certainly gives you a lot more features like tunable filters and adjustable sample rate, real time, level pan and pitch control, and I think some serious envelope controls for your sound but it's been a while so i'm not sure. But the SP has some things on it like the slider interface and it's incredible sound, so it is a toss up.

You have Linn 9000 serial number 1 ?? Wow, now that's cool.

I am borrowing a partially functioning one from a friend which doesn't have the major forat mods, just a few of the early sampling ones and it sounds cool and has a really great panel, probably the best pads ever and such a nice angle on them. It would be so much better if it could load kits instead of just one at a time. Great feel to that machine. I actually bought a fine young cannibals tape once just cuz I knew they used the 9000 all over their album. Is there any other reason to buy a FYC album? ;)

If you hav a studio 440 handy you should post some clips of beats you've done just on it, even just demo beats to hear what the sampler sounds like. Sampler wise it does seem to kill both the 60 and 1200, but once you put in sequencers, interfaces and reliability it becomes a tougher choice.

If anyone wants the sound of one of these you can get a prophet 2000 or 2002 which are non drum machine.

the most ive seen em for is 1500 EURO. 9000, is the biggest pain in the ass to sample on, might as well just use an oberheim prommer lol. Naw my 9000 doesnt have a serial, its a totally different design from the rest, prototype. ill post some beats in a bit. peace

What's with that man? I was trying to give you a simple solution and you're jumping down my throat. Forget it then. Last time I try to help a jerk.

Oh yeah, forgot. You're an "E-Thug 4 Lyfe". Tool.
