Using the Digi002 as a mixer with the MPC2000XL...

hi guys...

i have a big show coming up (at the House of Blues in Hollywood (shameless plug. lol))

anywho...
i do a lot of sequences and things like that.
i WAS gonna use Pro Tools off my powerbook to run my sequences off stage...but i don't have time for that right now...so i'm just gonna use my MPC2000xl.

i have the 8 outputs card installed in my MPC, so i wanted to know:
i could use my Digi002 as a standalone mixer right?

i was thinking about going 8 OUTS from my mpc and 8 INTO the Digi002 so i can control my levels of the tracks on stage.

this IS possible right?
just wanna make sure.

also...can i save settings of my levels and stuff even if i'm just using the Digi002 as a standalone mixer?

i'm still new to ProTools, so for now, i just wanna use the Digi002 to control the levels of my MPC.

please let me know..

I know for a fact that you can use the 002 as a standalone mixer, but I'm not sure about being able to save snapshots of your levels. I would say no, but check the digi user conference and ask someone there or do a search.

Do you know you have Rev/EQ/Comp in standalone mode?

Using standalone is a 15 pages chapter in the manual, not tht long to read...

From manual:
To put Digi002 in stand alone mode:

1 Press the standalone switch on the right-hand side of the Digi002 top panel. Digi002 displays "Enter Standalone mode? Yes/No".

2 Press the flashing Channel Select switch under "Yes" to enter stand-alone mode. Press the switch under "No" to remain in previous state.

Also,

To store a snapshot of a mix configuration:

1 Press F3 (snapshot)
2 Press channel select switch under save
3 Turn the rotary encoder under the snapshot number to set the number

Et voilà!

Very easy to figure out, even if you don't have the "get started" manual (provide in PDF in P-T ), cuz everything is writen down on the Digi...
You just have to not be lazzy too much, read what's on the desk and press switches...

The man may have just gotten his equipment, wanna use it in a show the next day, and will explore when he gets time... all things take time, but for the time u dont have u ask someone, which he is cool doing, especially if people answer his questions

You missed the whole point, to be ready at all times, especially for a live show and to be somewhat familiar with features on your gear you plan on using during the show. Just got the gear, cool, but doing a live show without cramming the standalone chapter into your brain is just askin for a headache, that was the moral of the story I got from Kilowax.

It's possible but headaches are more likley the less you know.

this is comedy.

ok...first off, thanx to the dudes that were backing me up.

now...i know how to work very well.
i've learned all my gear, especially computers, ALL on my own (and yes...i'm somewhat of a hacker :
by reading, trial and error, etc....so it ain't a "lazy" thing.

i really didn't wanna be reading pages in the manual trying to figure things out (no time right now. all the time i DO have i gotta spend getting my tracks sounding as tight as possible)

i guess i was just looking to see if there were quick suggestions to do what i wanted to do ASAP.

i just have a little bit of time to do this in and wanted to see if i'd be able to get it in that amount of time with the help of a few forums.

if i know something isn't going to be 100%, then i won't go through with it.
this is just the way i work:
if i know i'm not gonna be prepared with something and not ready, i won't use it.

i always have a backup plan.
i originally run all my sequences off my mpc, but i thought "hhmmmm...if i can smoothly learn to use the digi002 as a mixer before the show, i'll do it.

if not...i can always just use the mpc

again... him using that as a stand alone mixer only takes a second to use or to figure out ... he isnt trying to learn it upside down and in and out...the guy is just trying to use the Mixer instead of Pro Tools, i agree with learning, but for what he is trying to do only takes a quick briefing, you guys must have never dealt with live sound engineers on stages and so forth, so i can feel why he is trying to do it like that... stand alone mixer issue is simple he doesnt need to read the lil manual inside and out before he does this show just to run that... but hey, thats my opinion, and thats yalls..... and just as i said, which he also said is that he didnt have time to read it, so he came for quick questions and answers... so there fore its not a thing about being ready for all times if he doesnt have time to learn, we all are always learning more about our equipment, im sure with this added info then the next time he will be more prepared

move on... im sure someone else can answer it for him, i mean, peeps come on here wit most of the questions that they can read on one page, with an index, that they could look in.... so either next time, u can just wait to they ask u specifically and didnt find it in their manual or if its not listed, then u may answer they question, if its going to be that hard...are you gone trip on cats over a question.... as a matter of fact, i forgot about what all u can do in stand alone mode, cause i hardly ever use it, so i would haven eventually asked someone
