Hey has anyone ever had an quantizing problem on the MPC 1000? When I use quantizing on the mpc, it always always throws the beat off all the time. Does this happen with anyone??

And I got the newest update for the MPC 1000 OS.

I've always had to record it without the quanitize on.

I know this may sound strange but if you have a cell phone like a nextel or cingular type, it can cause strange blips and timing issues with the 1000.

be sure to place the phone far away from the unit.
I know this because it has happend to me with my cell and could never figuer out why it was happening untill i moved the cell phone away from the unit. if thats not the problem, what els is in the midi chain?

you just need to make sure your divisions are correct.. 16ths will get you almost exactly what you hit in wiht the pads...32nds are a lil tickiers you have to be way more exact with how you hit your pads.. or do what i do.. turn the timing correction right off for a natural feeling beat. offtimes are way simpler to make this way

1. I dont have a cell phone around my MPC. I dont even have those cell phones, I live in canada

2. I would always set it to 1/16. All the time. And it throws the beat off. It makes it even worst than a child trying to play a drum loop in mind. I had tried so many other settings and it makes it even worst.....

I've had the MPC 1000 for over 4 months and I didnt bother. I did it without quantize. Im fed up with it, Im going to sell it, and get an 2000xl.

try this, set it to 1/16, try doing your hi-hats first, then follow with kick and the snare, your problem might be the mpc1000 weak metro-tone(like on the 2000xl you can adjust the metro-tone vol. and change the sound)with this method the hi-hats will keep you in time and make some hot beats 8)

Thats cool but what if I make a track, and not every track will use hi hats? The point is that the quantize should working correctly bottom line. I shouldnt even need to use the hi-hats just to do that. I brought my mpc 1000 to a friends place and he himself knew the quantize doesnt work correctly. Then he was playing on his MPC 2000 and it was perfect. I even tried it, and it was perfect... Then we went back to the 1000 and it sucked like shit!

swing is set to 50%?

check your drums in the trim edit mode,if there dead space in the start point and end point of your drums this will throw the timing off, you want your drums to snap(soon as you hit the pad) trust me dead space will throw your timing off. 8)

I always check the wav file before I even put it in the compact flash card. And there is never any space before the wav file.

Have you taken into consideration that maybe there's nothing wrong with your MPC at all and maybe you just have bad timing?

Try making a beat using the note repeat function set to 1/8 and see what happends.

yep that might be it
