i have the e-mu 0404 soundcard and i want to sync it up with reason. I also have the midi man 1x1 which one would be better to use?

Generally MIDI from a PCI card has been tighter than USB, possible exceptions are the Steinberg and Emagic USB-MIDI interfaces.
