Sending promo cds

question. if you're sending "promo" cds to labels, radio stations, magazines, etc. are these still manufactured disks you're sending or can it be a burnt disk. not quite sure which is expected for a promo cd. if they are supposed to be the manufactured disk, do u have "promo" printed somewhere on the disc? or can u write it out? i know some of you cats have sent promo cds out before and can give me a better idea of what i should send or at least what labels, etc. expect in a promo disc. thanks in advance

For a limited promo run, there isnt really an expectency....Jus good enuff to read! White top CD with sticker/description/logo etc in a sleeve would be fine.

Presentation helps, but it will all boil down to the content...You could spend ur life savings on CD Pressing, lables etc but if its no good, its no good AKA No plays. Save all that effort for the retail version....Its consumers u need to satisfy!

so basically it could be a burnt cd. but try to jazz it up a lil huh? i def hear u on that. i figure a burnt cd wouldnt matter being that its a promo but u never know. the industry is funny

The Industry's funny when ur CD looks like $1,000,000 but dont sound like it. LOL.

U aint gotta 'jazz' it up, like make it look pretty etc...Your trying to capture their ears...Do as much or as little as you feel you need to do to represent what your doing and get the point across. Hence CD with label in a sleeve/wallet.

Burnt CDs will be fine, I would opt for the white top ones tho....Cleaner look, but uknow they wont be pissed at you for using a Memorex. LOL!

Lol. I hear that. Yeah I'm not worried about thematerial; that's there. Just wanted to check the standard. So burnt cds it is! Its actually mainly just for right now while I don't have the manufactured copies. Won't have em till next week. I think I'll prob still send it once I have em. I'll just use blanks till then
