How do you guys organize everything? My S1000 has only limited ram so I can't load all my samples every time. It doesn't have folders so I can't store everything I used for one beat in a folder so I can remember. I save my samples as Sample 1, Sample 2 and so on. Now that I have started really accumulating alot of samples I can't remember what samples I used for what beat so I end up loading all of my samples and all of my drums. This will soon be a problem when I have more samples than ram! How should I organize when I don't have folders? By the way saving all the files I used to a different floppy everyt time won't work cause I just started saving to zip disks. Help Me OUT :!:

This idea may or may not help you, but it inspired my desire for an S1000 back in the day. If you have a SCSI port on the S1000, seek out computer software to transfer your sounds to the sampler. This will allow you to store and manage your samples on your Mac/PC and avoid using your floppy drive.

To find the software, look thru the Akai pages at www.synthzone.com

Peace.

I would use the zips to store every sample i have and name the samples so you remember what they are, like "IMPEACH DRUMS" for example. Then when i made a beat i would resave all the samples loaded in the S1000 memory to a floppy or 2 if needed, and label the floppies e.g. "BEAT 1". So then you can easily load up just the samples for that beat. I would use the zips only for storing my samples.

If you really don't want to use floppies then look into partitioning zips. You could for example partition a 100MB zip into 20 5MB parts, and use 1 part for each beat. Sorry that's all i know about using partitions, my ASR-10 has folders!

Thanks for yall's help. I will try the partions thing once I get my zip drive to work. (look at my thread in the Studio Environments forum)
