MPC 60(II) vs. s950/SP1200

which would u prefer?

mpc 60 or 60 II

or the s950 with the SP1200?

could u get similar sounds in the 60 ?

Nah, I'd go with the sp setup just for the two sampler sounds. The SP sequencer isn't as developed, but it would be a productive setup.

I would the SP setup as well for the two different sounds, if I had no other choice. If I had a choice I would get MPC 60 & Emax as well. (Just say no to floppies....lol)

The SP sequencer is different. The box has a different sound than the MPC. Even with the Emax it wount sound like a SP1200. It would sound more like "What if the SP1200 had the sequencer of the MPC". Sequencers make a difference, filters do, converters, electronics, and the way a box is laid out..even has to do with how your tracks sound on it.

my opinion. sp OVERFALKINGRATED. yea its gritty, bigwhoopdee doo. Thats all it will do. make your samples dirty. they say the sp can't be emulated, who cares, I can guarantee you, the tracks that everyone likes that came off of an SP, would still be jocked if they weren't from the SP.

ahh ok ok. but where is all this emax business comin from. i was talkin about the s950 with the sp1200 vs the mpc 60. so which one of those combos u prefer?

Hello, I would like that someone could help to look for what Chip could to substitute this PCM69AP Output CMOS Delta-Sigma DIGITAL-TO-ANALOG CONVERTER, that is what is, I have my DENO and this is no working, and it is pretty hard to find out here in my country, I will like that someone could tell me, what anothe Chip could make the same like that or resemblance to this chip,

I hear you man... My opinion? Musical Instruments are OVERRATED! My next project will be me on the beatbox and my nephew banging on the dresser. I can do some turkey and duck sounds sporadically for that 29 bit grimeyness! Thing is though my throat only has .00007 secs of sample time so I have to say stuff real fast and slow it down on the 4 track. I might add some cuts from the Tech 1200 but maybe not. Some people consider that an instrument. I need a vocal sample of you saying "bigwhoopdee doo" for the chorus though. Thats gonna make the whole song. Word is bond...

I prefer the MPC 60. I own an sp12 and s900 (less luxurious version) of the s950, but the sequencer on the 60 is the sh*t. The SP sound it over rated and I would definetly choose the 60, hands down.

Mad? No. LMAO Not at all.... You seem to be the only one having frustrations.... As a matter of fact, your post made me laugh out loud. If you paid attention though...I wasnt making fun of what you said... but the manner in which you said it. I have no loyaalties to any machine. I bought the MPC 60 and Emax at the same time. That day I could have bought a SP1200 and S950. I didnt.... But then again... I hate floppies.

The reason I mention the emax is because it is my set up and it is the negative setup to the SP +950.

The sp & 950 give you two better samplers, but the 60 is just class.

For real, get the 60 then get another sampler later.

Jrides, you have the SCSI on the Emax? Mine is about to have it, as soon as I get to the drilling ;)

I think the Emax and the S950 are better samplers than their drum machine counterparts. The MPC edges out the SP1200 and the 950 in my opinion becasue of SCSI zip compatibility. Im spoiled on Zip Disks and CD-Roms...lol. The SP1200 has a different feel to the sequencer than the MPC. As instruments its hard to choose....both have unique qualities that you want.... I made my choice based on the availability of replacement parts for the MPC, SCSI, ease of use, sample time, and the fact that I could get an Emax for some EMU 12 bit sound. Im happy with the choice I made... I think one can be just as happy with a SP1200 S950 combo. They are all good machines.

Yeah I have the external SCSI on mine... I just installed a new internal hard drive in it last night. YUM. I bought two and have an extra one if you need one or you just want one that draws less amps from the power supply. Its already pre-formatted and configured for use with the Emax. Looking at the amps the old drive pulls combined with the floppy, I think I can pull off an Internal HD plus Zip drive combo. I will do the math and maybe try it after a while. Also if ever you decide the Emax has no more use in your setup... Im here for ya baby... send it to daddy...

SP/S950 for shure!!! I mean, you can sample as long as an MPC60 on the s950 but at 48Khz + they are cheaper. The SP is the don of them all,
i won't even react on that overrated talk i heard there...
Just put your SP on 180Bpm to sequence with more increments if you want a beat of 90Bpm. Then put your swing om max! This shit you can not hear from any other machine!
I own both S950/SP1200 and i love them. But my MPC3000 kills them both...in stereo

I love the Emax!! When I was fixing a HD SE for a friend I fell in love with the thing. He Sold it for $385 (cuz I told him it was scsi ready, and he put it in the description!), I got mine fer 170, scsi ready, HD SE, mine is a lower serial number, but still up there. The circuit boards were pretty different even though the serials were only a few hundred away (his looked nicer) but they both have the right chips.
