Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000
By mad_philosopher Fri Jul 29, 2005 2:55 am
I am finding it hard to find optional accessories, Guitar Center & zzounds have been back ordered for months! Like the 8 out, both say they dont exspect any more in. zzounds said they dont even plan on getting more 2kxl's? Not tring to spin the rumor mill but it seems very odd that vendors are only able to supply what is in stock and have not been able to get new Akai merchandise.
Also the have discontinued MFC 42.................

Now that I think about it, it seems there are going to discontinue 2K soon, stores are only suppling 4k & 1k and what is left in stock of 2k. which neither 4k or 2k have accessories to buy, like 8 out or effect board as they are built in. So I wouldn't be supprised if they they did, as stores are unable to get new 2k's or the accessories for 2k.
Or Option B, maybe they are gonna discontinue 2K as it is and release model like 4k & 1k that is fully exspanded out the door.
Or I am parinoid as I dont have effect or 8 out option yet! Getting effects next friday & 8 out in three weeks, until then my nights are restless!

soon people will be talking about the 2kxl like it was a 1200 or a 60. mine is going to the grave with me.

Yes, you are paranoid. The only thing I have seen regarding the MFC 42 is from Musiciansfriend, they have the MFC 42 marked down to $199.00, and there is no mention that it is being discontinued. Plus, the advertisement for the MFC 42 is for the beige unit, no mention of the blue unit.

Musiciansfreind does have an ad for the HV10 decabuddy as closeout for $199.00.

In the past (over a year ago) GC and zzounds did say that the MPC 4000 was discontinued. Which was wrong! So I wouldn't believe them right away.

And finally, www.PSSL.com is expecting a shippment for the Analog 8 out board for the 2KXL Aug. 1st
.

MFC is mentioned in new scratch magizine as being discontinued, last page. zzounds has said they're getting 8 out for months. ZZ has had 2k back ordered for 2 moths so I called and they said they have no word they are gettin anymore? Guitar Center says they've had 8 out back ordered for three months.
Hopefully I am just parinoid!

Don't know anything about the XL and it's optionals being discontinued. I'm trying to get ahold of the 8-outs myself and everyone I spoke to is expecting stock in september.
The MFC42 IS discontinued as far as I know. That's why not alot of stores have stock. Blue model, grey model, doesn't matter. They're discontinued I'm sure. The stores that DO have them have the grey model... Apparently, the last batch that was available from Akai Pro.

They are still called AKAI pro.

Here is a quote from gearjunkies.com

April 11th, update: We did research the news on the Akai take over rumours. And we found out that AKAI, makers of the legendary MPC line of samplers, was puchased out of bankruptcy late last year! The new owners also purchased Alesis and Numark out of bankruptcy in recent years, so we can expect the same kind of comeback from AKAI!

But! Numark did not takeover Akai Pro. Numark, Alesis and Akai Pro are owned by
the same adventure capitalist. The three companies have dedicated engineering teams and remain unique entities. Akai was experiencing distribution problems in the US so Jack O'Donnell (owner of Numark, Alesis, Wavefront Semiconductor, & Ion Audio) offered to assist Akai with there distribution channels and ended up buying the company.

i ordered the 8- outs from zzounds about 5 months ago. i got an email from saying they shipped it out two days ago. a couple of times i called zzounds to ask them what the deal is and one of the guys told me that as long as they are back orders akai will still ship them. maybe there is a discontinue or going to be one but it wouldn't hurt to put your name on a back order list, some might come in.

a went to sam ash about a year/year and a half ago and they didnt have a akai product in sight which was strange as hell. a sales person told me that akai stopped distribution in the u.s. this was right before that 4000 came about. somebody recently told me akai went bankrupt but i didnt believe them.

I was havin problems with my MPC2000XL and got various numbers for Akai but when I phoned them up the people who answered said Akai had gone into recession. I eventually got a number for Numark who were apperently the new onwers of Akai. They were able to assist me with my problem.
