" sad akai display, no new product, no inticement of future products (which i thought was really telling or just some of the worst salesmanship i've ever scene), no literature, no demo's, and no power to the machines."

This common when one company buys another. At least with the old company (or distributor) they had a 20 year reputation to hold. People at a new company take little to heart for products that did not "build" and "market" themselves.

There are many examples of companies buying out others, even if just for the name, and the former company gets lost: Gibson/Oberheim, Creative/Emu/Ensoniq and more than I care to remember. I would suspect O'Donnell is a fairly consevative person since I have not seen any new innovative products from any company he owns. I would not expect this to change with Akai.

all i want is the ability to bump notes around in step edit...no more copy/paste PLEASE AKAI :/

if i had that everything would be g...i could give a **** about timestretch my computer does it better...although reverse and maybe a delay effect would be cool as well.

actually copy&paste is powerfull. if you select multiple events you can move them all together. you can also do the paste on a different track.

btw once you have done your copy, if you press the left arrow you reach the top of the screen where you can adjust the time from the original position.

i am just saying this because i think this feature is the same in all the mpcs, and it is quite unlikely that akai would change that (if anyting at all). but maybe i am wrong :)

i wasn't advocating getting rid of copy/paste all together. i was just saying that it'd be a lot nicer to be able to select the note, and move the scroll wheel to adjust the time. that's ANOTHER method of how it should work imho...

You could also do the reverse and delay on a sample editor program such as Soundforge.

it'd just be handy in the sampler itself is all...

and it wouldn't be just as handy to have timestretch "in the sampler itself"?

the trouble is with editing samples on soundforge (or any software) is that you constantly need to edit the sample, transfer it across, see what it sounds like. If you got a delay (for example) on the machine, you can simple turn it on.. see if it sounds good.. if not... take it off or edit it there n then...

Software does do the job... its just very long winded.

However, if you use the 2 assigned outputs on the mpc and hook that up to software and route it thru a software delay module, then send it back to ya mixer (or even resample into the mpc) you get a better feel for how itd be to have a delay built in to the mpc... takes away the point of the mpc being self-contained but its the best solution so far...

Good advice but the point I'm trying to make is that if the guy has no complaints about timestretching in software, then why moan about the reverse and the delay not being on the mpc?

I don't know why everyone keeps complaining about the lack of delay, it's a sequencer, you can sequence much more interesting delays than any unit could produce, and way better than any built-in delay would be. Sometimes you've just got to be creative, and not expect everything handed to you on a plate.

hoooooows about everybody stop complaining about what you dont have and get a 2000xl then you'll be happy with your timestrech zoning and reverse :)
