New User.......question.......

Hey, whatsup guys. I just bought a new MPC4K, and I ended up formatting the HD and erasing all of the info. The only CD that came with it was something called CDRom SOund Library Vol. 0.
Maybe Im wrong, but it seems like they should have shipped another disk with everything else on it. the sound library one has hardly no of the stuff that was originally on the machine...........what the hell?

See if you can email AKAI and ask where are the downloads for that or stop by the store you got it from and ask.

Isn't it possible to download them from Akai's ftp anymore? I can't login anonymous anymore...

Ive looked all over the web too, and I cant seem to find anywhere to get these.
I know I shouldnt have done that, but I bought the 4k as a 'scratch and dent' Item off of Musiciansfriend, so I figured that just meant that it was used, and thats where all the internal files came from. There were also a few sequences in there that I assumed were programmed by somebody who didnt know what they were doing. So I thought I would start over with a clean machine and re up the files from the disk.
I just cant believe that they dont give you a backup of the factory files. Man, thats backwards.

yeah, scratch and dent in my mind means used and like u said, someone elses sounds so those are def. gone. As for the original sounds try contacting AKAI directly or a music store that sells MPC's and maybe they will have info for you.

The CD you got has almost everything that comes on a standard factory hard drive. I compared the contents of the CD with my hard drive and the only difference is the hard drive has folders named Autoload, Demo Huston, and Loops. I made a separate folder for my own stuff and I copied a few of the factory files in there but I have no use for most of them. AKAI has some decent drums on the disc. Other stuff like the "Thunder" folder is a waste. You aren't missing a whole lot though I understand why you want the factory set.

I know what you mean about the hard drive having something that looks like someone messed with it. The Autoload folder has a Multi named "Rich RB". The first time I saw that file I thought WTF? It has someone's name! They sent me a used MPC4000? Then I bought a second MPC4000 and it had the exact same files.

Yeah, I called customer support, but they gave me another number, and I guess I need to call them during normal business hours.......
Well, well see what happens, but Ive been downloading some more samples, and getting things here and there to make up for it, so I guess its not that big of a deal.
