your not gonna sell a beat to burger king right off the bat. Like anything you need ot build a rep/relationship in the industry. Try getting in with production companies in your city. I started doing some stuff for what was then a small company in Brisbane, and now they are based down in sydney and im getting some good work from them. I did a few things for free and crewed on some film clips over the years for them, goes a long way to getting people to respect you, whether you are better than some other dudes out there, if they know you you'll get work.

hope this helps

There are lots of companies that are hired by ad firms where all they do is hunt for shit that may fit thier client's "vibe. Either you can enter these databases where your shit gets filed by genre, mood, ect. and gopher inturns will serch through these, or that gopher inturn may justbe a fan of yours and recomend you. This kid I kno who goes by Dabrye sold his moterola beat by the latter manner. That $300 razor phone thing. All I know is he got a retarded amount of money for it.

2 Words=Advertising Agency. BK, FootLockers, etc., they use the AD agency to get thier commercials. In turn the AD agency hooks up with individual productino companies who have announcers, etc. Try going to local shop and making a commercials for them to play inside thier stores. You may have big ideas but your current position doesn't warrant it. The dreams will come alive with time.. But, first you have to pay your duez. 8)

Ad Agency is correct...Make a really good (short) demo of your best stuff...throw it away and make an even better one. Create an ad for IBM or Burger King or whatever....Dress nice (Professional, not hip) then Personally go to all the AD agencys you can reach. Wait until you can talk to the creative director or owner or whoever makes the decision of who to hire. (Be aware that if that person is sleeping with the sister of who makes thier music none of this will work.) If you're good you'll get them to listen. Make sure the tunes you give them are clearly labeled in big letters. Try names like Coca Cola Hit!, Million Dollar Promo! Best Music Anywhere for Car Commercial! etc... Put your phone # on the disk! Write "Free Demo for Your next Spot! on the disk / on the cover / on the wall in the bathroom as you leave....Get a name and number plus extension #..schmooze the receptionist for this info...call and get Mr big on the phone and offer a free demo for his next project...call back 10 days later and ask when you can get started...tell Mr. big the only way to get rid of you is to leave town or allow you to produce the free demo. If you are persistant, they will let you submit (after all it costs nothing) Lastly...hope your music is good enough because you only get one chance per agency. I know it all sounds dopey but I've been making commercials since '86. Thats the way I got my first half dozen gigs...now I can afford to turn down work...just my .02
