Or, see if you can find a second hand Kawai K5000, should be around $600-$700 NZ, can do all your string/piano/blah blah rompler sounds but also has some crazy additive synthesis possibilities.

Yeah I've used a Kawai, I'm pretty sure it was the K5000, i found all it could really do was synthy sounds? Maybe I didnt play enough - I couldnt find any nice real sounds on it either, like guitars etc.

I'm more after bread and butter, 'real' sounds - guitars, pianos, strings an sh*t rather than synthy paddy effects, what offers heaps of nice real sounds, but say c*rap synth sounds?
I've found that every module/keyboard has its pros and cons, nothing does everything...... surely there must be something out there that incorporates a lot of analogue sounding instruments...

The K5000 has a full GM section with PCM sampled pianos, strings, guitars. You've just got to hit the GM button. They're pretty good actually.
