A lot of people say the 1K's compressor is weak and not good for drums.

Please give feed back...

It's ok, pretty transparent and good for tightening everything up but you don't get the kind of artefacts some compressors give that make your drums sound really fat. It's better than putting your mpc through a behringer composer by a long shot though. Maybe a bit subtle for some.

Anybody tried that "Really Nice compressor"? is it so much better than mpc's built in digital compression?

Yeah the RNC is way better, but that's not surprising. It's still pretty transparent though.

I rarley use the built in compressor. It's way too weak. When I record my tracks into Cubase I usually use the Waves compressors. But I almost have enough for my Joe Meek Twin Q.

its not good at all its too 'digital' sounding, and if anything it just raises the noise floor (the downfall of compression) without colouring it and giving it some kind of presence (the advantage of compression)

I just use compression on the master outs to compress the overall track to make things sound more cohesive mix wise. I don't use it to make my drums thump or hit hard. I got other ways of doing that.

The compressor is not good for drums because the attack time is too short.
When i compress my kicks and snares i don't want to compress the first part of the sound, the hit. You can do this with any compressor but not with the ones in the mpc. Even with the attack at 99 it's way too short to be usefull.

I've only checked settings on the main out, which seems to be active by default. It sounds ok, a lot better than nothing at all..........
