hey kids, just noticed something that i never had a prob with before.. i have my micro korg set up via midi so that when i play the keyboard the mpc receives that data and plays it back accordingly. or i can hit the pads and play the micro korg that way. now the problem is, when i hit some keys on my korg it triggers the samples on my mpc. so if i want to jam over my track of just drum beats it also triggers drums.. how can i stop this? i know its gotta be some midi filter thing but im not much of a midi guy. thanks

Are you playing a sequence on the MPC and playing the Korg?

If sounds like you have a DRUM track showing on the main screen. The MPC will trigger any track that is showing on the MPC. If you want to play along with something that is connected, switch to a midi track.

well i switch each track to midi if its midi or drum if its samples..but if the screen is on the track that is the drum track it still triggers the drum samples when i hit certain keys. now if its on the synths track everything is fine it plays the notes not the drum sounds. same if i go to the drum track and turn the drum program to off obvioulsy theres no drum sounds triggerd . it just seems a lil wierd to me that way. is there a way around it?

No that's just the way it works, if you're sequencing a whole lot of modules it means when you change the track it changes the midi out channel.

mpc3000 explained it pretty well, either you're playing the pads or you're playing the keys, it doesn't like to do both at the same time.

i think there may be some solution, but i'm not clear on all aspects of what you want to do...

like obviously(?) you could unplug the midi out from your korg.. but i guess u don't want to be pluggin in and out, is that right? so you're lookin for a 'soft' way to disable that connexn temporarily?

or maybe im not understanding right :)

Yeah, the solution is to have the track with your drums on it when you're playing the drums, and the track with your midi on it when you're playing your synth.

The track that you're using your MicroKorg on should have the program set to off, it's as easy as that.
