Technical questions for the MPC2000xl and the MPC2000

I'm just tryin to feed off the knowledge in this forum. So tell me how's that combo work? Do you record whatever your play on the keys onto the mpc and throw it into a sequence? do you use the sample function? assign different sounds to different pads? I'm pretty much in the dark on this topic but will need to kno more bout it before I add a keyboard to my home "studio."

Also can someone tell me of a low-priced keyboard that has a load of good sounds?

Thanks in advance.

The only good low priced keyboard is a used one. As for how they work together the MPC and keyboards, they communicate via midi ins and outs.
The MPC is usually used as the main sequencer in a small set up. the parts you would record into the MPC would be those of the midi nature. The MPC doesn't handle real audio other than when in sampling mode. I myself started off with the MPC and a Yamaha keyboard. Cool but not a strong keyboard. I next got a Planet Phatt module and for the most part played the module sounds with my MPC pads. But hey different strokes for different folks, you may take a different route. :?
