Okay, are you trying to use the MPC's sequencer, not it's pads or samples, but one the sequencer, and have it sequence sounds from the 505, as well as you playing sounds from the 505 via your keyboard?

That's exactly what I was thinking. Lemme try.
Midi only sends SIGNALS to the other machine, NOT audio.
Those signals tell the other machine to DO something.
You hear the sound/note come out of the other machines audio cables.
No audio/sound is transfered on a Midi cable. Both machines need to be hooked up to a mixer to here the sounds that reside in either of them.

I think I am confusing all of you because I am not using the right vocabulary. I am just trying to use sounds from another device without loading them on the MPC. Thats it, now if anybody can direct me to a source of knowledge besides my manual then that would be great. Realistically thats all I am trying to do is just play sounds from another device on my MPC.

this allows you to control your 505 using your mpc
mpc stands for midi production center...that means it can be used to sequence other machines via midi....you need to read your manual for your 505 to make sure it knows it needs to controlled by an external sequencer.....
once you figure it out it'll be real easy

I'm actually trying to use the MPC's 16 level fucnction on my keyboard. While using all the keyboard keys I would be able to play the same sound at a different pitch. Anyone know how to use that function on a Keyboard?

16 levels doesn't work over midi, use auto chromatic assign if you're on the xl.
