bassline synths?

What do you guys use for bassline backdrops for beats? I have been using a refill patch i got for reason that sounds OK but most of the reason sounds (even the refills i have) sound cheesy...but i want a more dirty and crustier bassline (fretless obviously too)....just want some ideas. Thanks

what is fm synthesis? I have tried to make a bassline out of a sample where i used the filter and turned down the freq and turned up the resonance a little, but it never sounded that great....

fm is where you have a osc modulate another one- i dont get into it too heavily i just take advantge of the low subs you can get from stacking sine or square waves....

you could do this very easily in soundforge..

S950 has a nice sine wav and a nasty filter = good bass lines.

MicroKorg= very nice basslines.

Arturia MiniMoog V and their other synth emulators = Very Nice Basslines.

What U Want 2 Do IS Understand Basic Analog Synthesis n Also Low Pass Filterin'.......................
