Attention all MPC60/ASQ10 users ... Please confirm ...

MPC60 users please confirm if your MPC6O/ASQ10 is capable of booting and running these tools below:

File Recovery Utility for MPC60

If you find that one of more files have mysteriously disappeared from one of your MPC60 floppy disks, but the free space on the disk indicates that they are still there, the disk may have a damaged "directory". This utility may help. To use it:

1. Download the file SYSTEM.ZIP.

2. If you are using a PC, decompress the download file using a utility such as WinZip or PKUNZIP, saving the contents to a 720K Windows/DOS floppy disk.

3. Format a floppy to 720k in a Windows or Mac computer. (Don't use 1.4 meg.)

4. Copy this file to the 720k disk.

5. Insert the disk in your MPC60's drive and turn power on. After about 20 seconds, instructions will appear on the screen to guide you through the process of repairing the damaged disk.

MIDI File Conversion Utility for the MPC60

Have you lost the MIDI File Conversion Utility Disk included with version 3.10? If so, you can download it here:

1. Download the file m60_mf.zip.

Nope. Never was able to boot it from the downloads from roger Linn's site.

people that got the disks from Forat or Roger can use them fine, but I've tried to hook it up to no avail and many of us have tried and we know it doesn't work.

I'll see if I can't get someone to give us a disk image of the original disks.

Any good disk image utility we should use? (PC and Mac, just in case)

The 60 can see the files and put them into memory but when it tries to run the programs, an error occurs (software bug 11h).

ERROR 11h, The boot loader issue, "Sorry but, blah, blah, blah" ...

Another user on this list told me he had contacted 28+ MPC60 users and that they all experienced these problems with the downloaded tools.

However, I have an idea.

My MPC60 is not with me yet ... I may be able to fix at least one of these tools though.

On the PC, WINIMAGE, WINHEX or GEMULATOR EXPLORER.

I think for ease of use at the other end, WINIMAGE.

Hi Alyi,

It is no problem to format a DD 720k floppy disk under 2K/XP.

Assuming your floppy disk drive is "a:"

Drop down to a prompt in 2K/XP.

IE: from the prompt, RUN "CMD".

At the prompt type:

format a: /f:720

Assuming your disk drive isn't faulty the disk will format fine.

As for the utilities talked about in this thread. They have have been fixed some time ago.
