I mean, if you're not going to use them for what they're best at then you should seek out cheaper alternatives to play back samples right? I still can't think of anytime where I've needed even 32 samples (2 banks) much less 256. I guess my style is more stripped down. I also organize my **** so I don't have unnecessary sounds in a program. One program per track.

I still can't see how you can justify more than one MPC in sequencing. That Dre example only proved that most people are just lazy rather than actually NEEDING more than one MPC. Can't be bothered to change disks? WTF?

Must be nice to have money to burn like that.

dude... check this out, MPC's load slowwwww.... verrrryyyy slowwwww, so that will slow down his production time, or anyone elses for that matter that needs to access all of their programs or sounds, and actually, if you think only using MPC for MIDI only, then u gotta be sick... u missing out on a lot more, yeah, u can use other things, but why when ya MPC can do that too, and u can fatten sounds, anyway, thats another topic.... but anyway, thats of topic, the main thing is, if u can only use 256 sounds, and u need access to all of yours samples, which me personally, i have over 10 Gigs of sounds for my MPC, most which i still havent even heard all of, and im sure some are the same, or somewhat similar...but its not lazy to be rushing, its lazy when u wanna sit around and wait, when u can be making more music, and much more dough, by a lil investment... a couple of MPC's, ok yea, the cost might be right around $10,000... versus making tracks that could end up making you 5 times the amount plus more... ya gotta think... but then again, your production style maybe different, so i cant be mad at ya for doing what you do, people use different methods, maybe u using your exact Motif of Triton Drums works for you, if so, much propz

dawg, its not an argument, its an opinion... thats whats wrong wit most of the cats on these threads, yall are too worried about how other peeps do they production instead of your own... again in my opinion, thats the reason why i would and have used more then 1 at a time.... not because i feel like your argument about useing 64 MIDI Channels plus... dang that....stop trippin on my opinion about how i would use two MPC's or more....which would be the conclusion of what Dre said if any of you read the article.... extra Zip Disc = more programs and sounds, which the MPC 2000XL can only hold 256.... its ashame how peeps come on and read half the thread and wanna join in and throw their pennys in... read the whole thread and come wit a valid opinion that supports the rest of the thread... BassLine comes wit valid opinons and a few other peeps, why cant the rest of yall...

I bet the trick is just sampling sequences from one to the other so you have long samples on the pads of each section or whatever rather than using song mode.

dude 96 sounds or programs....and by the way, they have had these well over 5 years before the 4000 even came out
dude 96 drum sample's per program, but 128 programs!!! each bank holds 16 drums sample's (or whatever you sample) but you have 6banks,all them banks combined make up 1 program,(did'nt even calculate 128x96) but do the math.your right they had them over 5 yrs but surely they can afford a 4k

You guys really just grab sounds in the dark and see if it works huh? Anyone who needs access to that many sounds to make something is using a hail mary approach and doesn't know what they are doing. Sorry.

This is a very close minded opinion!!!!! But then again you do that alot....
Anyhow sometimes its the sound that inpires you what to play, random or not, if it fits, than its right.

el el el. now what happens when i chop a break into 16th notes and i got 64 pads to use to play back 2 bars, two mpcs OR a MPD16 would be great so u dont lose that element of playing it live. PE used to use 2 or 3 sp1200's rigged together, shadow used 2 mpcs to do what i just described above. Its a good investment if you got room and dumb money to spend.

nah, its just having access to most of your programs and sounds, its not about not knowing what you are doing... so u use the same 256 sounds everytime you produce, your style must be very limited, and sound mainly the same....

I agree...and it REALLY doesn't make sense for someone like R. Kelly, whose tracks are usually very sparse.

what kinda samples are you talking about? drum breaks or melodic type. just curious cause alotta samples lose the 'magic' when theyre overchopped...
