somebody help me break this down...try to drop drums down...

been readin the mpc manual but i don't think its gon help me much on this...


so i been searchin the net and google stuff...

basically i want to learn how to lay down drums and came across this post... homie got similar questions like i do...

Mess around with ish...it's not a science project and your not going to get a "F" and have to repeat another grade...try messing with the timing correct features, some people seem to love that, also put the click on so you can hear the clicks...those numbers I am assuming are for the clicks...
"AKA" 1st click drum, 4th click drum,7th click drum...etc. Not sure just an educated guess...anyway stop posting these stupid questions and just spend a day pushing every button on the thing and learn everything about it...you dont even have to really read the manual, just search different posts on here to learn some new ish, but dont post your questions until your sure it hasn't been covered and you know it's not a retarded question. (No offense to any retards out there)

sorry man there is no set answer for this to make ur patterns better, basically u need to pratice, some people have better rhythme then others,

to me, it seems like ur one of the cats who is just gonna have to work a little harder then other people to get your patterns on point...

Listen to patterns u like and then copy em

like i said it really comes down to pratice and talent i can sit hear and tell you how i make patterns till im blue in the face but it aint gonna help you come up with your own

Yo, no offense, but if you don't even know what a basic kick/snare beat sounds like, then WHAT THE F@CK DID YOU BUY A $1000 SEQUENCER FOR? I mean for real, ANYONE that wants to make beats should at least know what a beat IS before the drop mad paper on equipment.

Go buy Jurrasic 5's Quality Control, peep the track called "Swing Set", it has a section that actually uses the words KICK and SNARE over the kicks and snares. If that don't teach you how to do it, then SELL YOUR MPC and give me all your vinyl.

These numbers are based on a 16 note pattern (old drum machine style i.e. roland TR 808,909,707, ...etc.)

a simple 4 on the floor beat would be programmed like this:

1= bar 1/ beat 1/ tick 000
5= bar 1/ beat 2/ tick 000
9= bar 1/ beat 3/ tick 000
13= bar 1/ beat 4/ tick 000

This kind of programming is "Step Write Mode", I do my beats more in "Tap Write Mode" it's more like drumming in Tap.

Just experiment and come up with the method that best suits you.

the drums dont' have to be in sync right? that don't matter? like if i have drum sampler from an 80's records n another kick or snare from a 60's record that dont' matter right?

read my posts suckkas I basically got a FREE mpc 1000 BRAND NEW... i copped $3500 worth of equiptment for $600... alesis micron, AT studio mic, 1202 mixer, sonic pre am.. ect, ect... so STOP the hatin n get to educating...

That's not even a beat. i played this out like 4 times and it don't even sound right. it's not a full bar. what's the time sig on this.


if you really want to make a beat. it doesn't matter the tempo, just make sure the TS is 4/4
i'll take you through 2 bars then you can loop or whatever

kicks 1, 3 & (where & is in between the numbers)
snare 2, 4
hats 1 & 2 & 3 & 4 & 5 & 6 & 7 & 8 & (where & is in between the numbers)

man guy if YOU would do your homework... YOU would have seen i specifically sed ..I"M NOT lookin for somebody to make my beats....its a forum the whole point of it is to come on here and learn from each other..aka get help and input from others..
