MPC 2000 Classic SCSI Cable Question

Wassup yall. I have a pretty common issue, and would liek some input. I purchased a IOMEGA ZIP 100 used. I have set the jumpers to SCSI ID 5 and to termintate. Now when I go to save I am able to select SCSI 0-4, and 7 but 5 and 6 read "SCSI not ready". So I said, maybe the ZIP drive is done. So I bought a brand new in the box, in the plastic, ZIP drive, connect it and when I connect that one, when I go to select SCSI, it just says wait and freezes. I initially used each cable that came with each drive. I also used a SCSI cable that came with the MPC unit. With the swap of each cable, I get the same exact results. Does the MPC 2000 need a specific cable? Or does it seem like I just got 2 bad SCSIs?

Connect the cable into the terminal that looks like a diamond(the one on the right when your looking at the back).Then set your i.d and termination.Once you power that up then the mp scroll to the i.d.It might say wait but it should recognize it.Mine use to do that but i would scroll past and then come back to the # and it would work.Some people say not to do that but i'm kind of impatient.

Still nothing one with one drive connected the MPC just reads "wait" when I try to select any SCSI ID, and with the other drive I select SCSI ID 1to 4, and then 7. When I try to select 5 or 6 it still says SCSI not ready. I have have tried to select another SCSI ID, and it lets me. But when I select 5 or 6 again it still reads "SCSI not ready". Does the 2000 not work with the supplied IOMEGA SCSI cable?

You may have a parallel/scsi combo drive.

SCSI 5 or 6 is the mpc itself so you can't use that number with another device.

What exact model number is the drive you bought and the model number of the other drive you used?

Thanks Stryke and Lampdog. After getting my "McGuyver" on I got the ZIP to work. I actually switched "internals" within to 2 ZIPs and now the one that used to say "SCSI not available" when I would select SCSI ID 5 or 6 now works fine. Good thing I have that knack for taking shit apart and putting it back together LOL.
