I know for a fact that Dre used a 4000G at Larabee in So. Cal. for a lot of the work on 2001. I had a boy that actually worked with Hurredia on a track down there. These days, could still be a 4000G, but some of that 50 and Game stuff sounds real pristine, so they could be rockin a 9000J or 9000K at this point, hard to say.

If you actually did some real research I'm sure you could find out to some extent. Cats up on here aren't always going to have such specific info. We could assume he uses them five 3000's to make actual tracks, but who knows for sure?? I don't believe everything I read or hear....but that's me.

No, becuase Behringer is a parasite.
They take circuit and gear designs from other
companies, user cheaper parts, and then stamp
the ish out in mass quantity. The result is,
you got kids who wanna produce and
think they need exactly this piece, that piece
and then that other piece of gear.
Instead of buying quality ish and having to
put in more work to get something that's
gonna last, they get as much cheap stuff
as they can. Then they are surprised when
it breaks. I am not suggesting that you
cannot make good sounding material
with Behringer equipment. You can do it with
anything, and as a matter of fact, that's
a compliment to you if you can, because
their stuff sounds like ass, and that's a fact.
I think gear should be high quality and very
expensive, so that people who are serious about
what they do will support quality companies.
Just because it looks like a mackie,
doesn't mean it sounds like one. Mackie used
to be as low as you could go, and it was not
the greatest, but at least worth what you paid for it.
If it's cheap, but doesn't last or doesn't work, then
it's not worth it.

But Premo uses a Behringer Mixer, so it must be good for something,cuz he sounds fine.

Like I said, it's all in the skill. And to be fair,
nobody else is Premo, so I doubt anyone else can
get do it as well. Also, maybe he uses that at home,
but up until they closed, when he cut joint he would
be over at D&D, on a Neve console to 2 inch
analog tape. So, I would bet you money that
anything that made it to radio or even just the
shelf that he's done has no Behringer gear on th emix.
Again, you can end up sounding good on
anything, but if you want something that will last
and not work against you, steer clear.
No insult to anyone who uses one,
but if you could afford better, I'm sure
you wouldn't buy their products.

Man, I got mad respect for Premo but sorry to say that doesn't mean too much nor speak for the quality of Behringers products. Is Fruityloops sent from the heavens because 9th Wonder came up using it?? I think not sir.

Successful cats will use junk from time to time simply because it works for them, and some cats will even become successful using junk, but that doesn't speak for the actual quality of those products or even mean their use or purchase should be recommended to people on the whole.

To anybody wanting a Behringer mixer, I'd say buy a Mackie or small Allen & Heath console, not the best boards but they are at least up to a somewhat agreed on level of basic quality. Oh and Premo most definitely does all of his mixes on big consoles for the most part, not to mention 2 inch tape and whatever outboard, it ain't the Behringer you're hearing bless his sh*t on them bigger releases he's involved with. My 2 cents on this....

Anyway, I really wonder if Dre is using the 4000G still or the 9000K. Neve Capricorn????

Dre uses money, great musicians, a great acoustic room, a commerical studio and a engineer that knows what he is doing. Alll of which if I could guarentee the mofo a certified hit he would let us in there too cuz it aint gonna be at home. But if we can`t bring heat to the lab, then........... you know the rest

I meet the dude once in Hawaii he`s cool gave him a pound and kept it moving just I dig his music back in the Gin and Juice days. He has a article on Mix mag online about his start and his gear and people forgot the link some of the experts on here probably know the link.
