I'm relatively new to using the MPC 1000, so I'm not sure if this is a dumb question...I want my samples to be triggered like the Boss Sp-303. I know you can set up the pad so that if you hit it more than once, it will mute the previous sound and start the new one...this is good...but on the 303, you could do that, then decide to play the whole sample without interrupting, (with loop function off) and then decide to stop it by hittin the pad again if you wanted to end the sample before it officially ends (turn loop function on, hitting pad stops sound)...kinda tough to describe but 303 users out there should know what I'm talking about...so is there a way to make my pads trigger the same way as the 303?

i think you need to use 2 pads. one with your sample, and the other one empty. you set them to the same mute group. and then the empty pad can be used to cut the one with the sample.

a slightly different way would be to change the "one shot" setting to ... [cannot remember this setting name], and the sample will play until you release the pad. (this setting is accessed by hitting "window" when the sample name is highlighted in program mode.)

change it to "note on" and switch to "mono" in params menu.
