saving _tracks_

I just recorded about ten different tracks in a program (same sequence), and want to know how to save this data. I see options for saving programs and sequences, but not _tracks_. I tried just saving the program and sequence, and when I reloaded, it just played all the tracks together (didn't save the distinct tracks at all).

I'm digging this method--composing songs with the tracks (not sequences), using the track mute to develop the song, etc., but I'm going to have to save the tracks for it to be worthwhile! I'm sure you guys use this method too (although the manual doesn't really do more than hint at it). How do you save the track data?????

I'm not turning off my MPC again until I get an answer to this, spent too long composing these tracks and lost them once already. Help!

I'm not sure if this is that answer you're looking for, but why not just save the "all squences and songs" (.all)...then in a future session mute what you don't need and dump the tracks to computer or CD?


.all and .aps (all programs and sounds)...give you your particular beat when you call them up, and dial to the right sequence

ok, but isn't there a way to save the individual _track_ settings (not sequences--I'm just using one sequence, but within the sequence, about 14 different tracks)? In my tracks I'm combining a few different sounds, like a bass drum and hi hat, for example. Then on the next track, a snare drum, or melodic piece. Then on the next track, something else, and so on. So I need to save the tracks in order to "play" the song. If I save the data as an .all file, won't it be true that when I go to track mute, the sounds will all be lumped into track one?

I hope my question is clear--how do you save _tracks_ (not programs, not songs, not sequences--but many tracks within the same sequence)?

No. How about using the song mode? This way when you load up all (all songs and sequences) everything is already muted and so forth. What you will have to do is copy the main sequence a few times and label them in a manor you will be able to recall their proper order then go into the song mode and program your beat in the order you want it to playback in. When you save this beat save using save all songs and sequences, name it to your liking and Ta Da! Anymore questions just holla!

P.S you can always go back and re edit your tracks should you choose to.

so far, I'm not saving the tracks one by one, because I still don't know how! I mean, maybe saving the .all, .aps, and .pgm will do it (there are no other options, are there? Clearly no .trk or anything).

What I want to do is this, Forest:

I've got a bunch of samples, some are of beats, others of melodies and what not. I have combined these sounds into tracks, recording one track at a time in the main screen. I've named the tracks according to their function, "organone," "bass," "rattle," etc.. Now, when I go to "track mute," I have each track (really one component of a song) available to mute/pull in and out. I'm guessing this is how I want to play live, but when I tried to save the session data, and turned on the mpc and loaded it up again, the separate tracks WERE NOT SAVED, therefore all the creating of the tracks was for naught. I've redone it, and have not turned off the MPC yet, waiting for any other suggestions so I don't lose the day's work.

In the manual it suggests that saving a sequence preserves the track data (each sequence has up to 64 tracks, right?). So, theoretically, I should just save my damn sequence and all the track data will be stored. RIGHT?????? Help.

It appears that the most obvious solution is the correct answer. First and foremost you must have either a floppy or zip disk to save your programs/information on. Without one of these mediums theres no source to recall your tracks from. Save your samples as either snd. or wavs. Either under save all pgms and sounds or save a pgm and sounds.

Both problems I've posted to this forum have been inexplicable, in that since the initial problem, I've gone back and done the same things, but it's worked properly. Saving the sequence saves the track data. More than likely, the first time I saved the sequence, I panicked when I reloaded it and didn't see what I expected. In any case, thanks for the help everyone, I appreciate it, even if in the heat of the frustration I (and the other questioners) seem to be too terse.
