somebody help me break this down...try to drop drums down...

am I the olny one who gets the coded e bangin goin on here......

I got the 1000 when it came out and I didn't know a damn thing about kick and snare patterns. I just tried to copy the best I could what patterns I heard on songs without knowing what I was doing. I didn't know that the snares in basic beats fall on the same ticks, etc. etc.


I eventually learned, and practice and this forum have helped alot. (I still got piss poor rhythm though) Don't condemn someone for being new to something, cause I can guarantee EVERYONE was once in a similar position.

phaebon no disrespect but why would oyu come on a forum asking a question like this, you said " no i dont want you to tell me how to make a beat" but what your asking pretty much is

i was in florida for 5 years and aussumed cuz a lot of my guys stopped banging the $hit died down here

not the case.....my guy had to pop off at like 20 GDs tryin to jump me and a couple cats leaving a restaurant (wrong color wrong neighborhood situation)

CATS do not bang in florida, its more drug crews, the cubans, the hatian mob(<--used to run tampa) the domicans. They dont battle for turf , they battle for control over the herion/coke connects.

THe only people that gang bang in florida are wannabies that wanna seem hard, that shit is ridiclous.. its a totally differnt culture and vibe. Its about the drugs in FL not the sets.....

i'm aware of whats what in fla...when i first moved there cats was rockin madd bandanas and crazy colors with hats tipped every which way, but wasnt bout nothin

and it came up when dude started callin out hoods and talkin about flipping forks

to be honest i couldnt give half a fuk, i'm a neutron (as in i dont bang) i got guys on both sides (this has put in more than my share of problems)

aight guy on this WHOLE beat makin thing.. you GOTz to remember I"M brand SPANKIN new.. i barely only used my MPC twice and yeah I been readin the manual but hearin yalls cats an INPUT is more "real" an valuable to me then this manual which as you know can be type like tedious...

Translation to MPC terms:

Kick at:
1= 001.01.00,
4= 001.01.72,
7= 001.02.48,
11=001.03.48,
15=001.04.48

Snare at:
5= 001.02.00,
13=001.04.00

Hats at: see above.

That's the Basic Beat he wwas trying to tell you about.

Well then I say to you, too: Why the F@CK WOULD YOU SPEND $1000 ON A MACHINE TO MAKE BEATS, WHEN YOU DON'T EVEN KNOW WHAT A BEAT IS? I would think that most people would know about music before they decide to make a major investment like that. Maybe use a free PC program, or beatbox. or pound tables, somethin'...

No, I was NEVER in this position. I knew how drumbeats worked before I decided that it was something I would enjoy doing enough to drop over a grand. I mean, how you gonna know you like making beats if you don't even understand the basic fundamentals?

i know what type of newbee u are just mess with ur mpc or whatever u got try doing this get like a easy instrumental beat listern to the drums how it starts and shitt then try and copy it or u could get a beat video and jus see how they started there beat.
ur us thinkin to much

learn how to program basic drum pattern. all the drums on all them songs are basically a basic pattern. then after that, you add things in here and there and build them up.

seems to me when i listen to folks who dont really program their drums good, and it always seems like their hihats are all over the place.

try doing a steady hihat pattern. then build the rest around those.
