Aight,
I got this tight track that I thought was mixed down superbly until I put it in my truck and found that the kick was too tight and not hitting hard enough. My question is what can I do to open and add more punch to it. I do all of my mix downs through Pro Tools. I have mad plug-ins if anyone knows of one that may help. Thanks in advance!

go back and turn up the kick if its not punching through enough, with protools and all those plugins i thought that would be obvious...

It Is obvious......! Are you using regular speakers when you mixdown
or monitors....! The mixdown is very obvious in protools when listening
through monitors.......!

I understand that I can just turn up the track to have it hit harder, but I also want to loosen the kick. It's too tight for this track, that's why I mentioned the Pro Tools plug ins..........but thanks for your help.

change the kick to a looser sounding one...

or change the envelopes of the kick so they are not so sharp..

What do you mean by looser? Most likely, try another kick sample. Its sort of hard to give mix tips without hearing what you are working on. Can you post it?

Kich too tight, add some reverb for spaciousness and a bit more bottom for the boom...or as someone else suggested, just use a different kick sample. One of my favorite tricks with a kick drum (and alot of percussion) is to add distortion - the best seems to come from old guitar stomp boxes, but anything in your arsenal will do...
