actually,i just realized the snakey f@#ker sod it to someone else,10 min. before i was gonna western union him the $,maybe i was slippin' for taking to long but damn! Thank you all for the help tho,fasho.

get the XL if you want to do allot of things inside the machine, get the 3k is you want a good investment, and want better sound (XL sounds fine if eqed and blah blah)

Well, I know it doesn't matter but just for the record I would have said neither.
You were saving a little on the 3 but the prices on 3's and 60's do some real inconsistent sh*t, so you could easily still have trouble selling it especially with a paint job.
The SE was over priced, but I guess the person was saying it a Special addition.
My thoughts would have been try to get the ASR for $600/650 then find a cheaper XL and be done.
Or to get the ASR and find a 60 w/v3 you find them for $600-700 all the time.

Thanx peoples,i might get the asr or i may just pick up a triton extreme for $1500,only cause i know that sequencer in and out,i can put a hottt finished beat together on there in like 15 min. I dont know ya'll,ive been eying up a mpc 4000 too. Huh,what to do,what to do????

Maybe your best bet would be to pause and decide how you really want to work and then go that route.

The gear you're mentioning shows that you seem to have absolutely no idea where you're going.
First off you should think about what and how you have worked so far and what you liked/disliked from that.

Most important thing is: what sound do you want?
is it warm and clean (3000/ASR <<very flexible, it can also sound dirty!!)? is it clean but more modern (triton/mpc 4000), is it dirty and warm (s950/60)

these are just suggestions,... people might see these machines differently..

(I'm in no way refering to anyone in this discussion as I don't have a clue how far you really are)
I think the most important thing about buying beatmachines nowadays as someone who is new to the hardware world or even new to producing is that they have no clue what it is like to work on a classic machine! They should prob get a mpc 2000/4000 or a triton. There is absolutely no point in buying a 12bit machine / a text based UI unit because its on all your favorite LPs or simply because almost everyone who makes beats keeps mentioning these "genius samplers/seqs". These kids will live with the illusion that everything will go off easy, noticing that when they turn it on it can be uncomfortable to use if all youve been exposed to is FL/cubase or any other pc app with waveform display and easy menus...

EDIT: almost forgot. You can download the manuals of almost anything on the web. So after thinking about what direction you want to go, make a selection of units you think might be right and download those manuals. This can save you from disapointment lateron

P.S.: If you buy a "modern" unit you will always be able to sell it again for the same or just a little less after finding out you'd rather rock an old-style unit.

CToon, new gear tends to lose it's value quicker than old...

And i went from computer sequencing and sampling to the 12 bit 60, but I'm no stupid kid.
