Yes, obviously you can sample from CD to MPC and there are a number of ways to do it. I'm wondering what the best way to go is as far as being able to adjust the pitch/tempo of the song being sampled. I do have a computer with the programs that are able to do it BUT I am trying to stay hardware when I use the MPC. I don't have a CD turntable, just a CD player, so pitch/tempo adjustment is not an option unless I buy a CD turntable(?). If that is the case, what is a good CD turntable to buy? I want it to be cheap because the main reason I'm buying it is to sample off of CD and have the ability to change the music pre-sampling. However, I don't want to just buy some crap unit because I do have a lot of CDs and it would be nice to be able to mix some CDs into everything when I DJ (so I guess real-time scratching on the CD player would be ideal). Is this what I have to do, and if so, what are some recommendations? Also, I had posted earlier about timestretching. If there is a unit with the ability to timestretch, I should just be able to alter the sample from the CD player in the effects unit, then sample it into the MPC. Is this accurate, and again, are there any units out there that do this/recommendations?

As thousands have stated before, timestretching is going to take at least twice as long when done in a hardware straight setup. As far as altering samples, you said you want them to be altered before you even sample in your MPC1000? Why? If you want to stay hardware specific then why not change your pitch (tempo) in the MPC? Doing this will make it easier to get the feel of your beat while in the beat-making process.
As far as having a great CD selection and wanting to sample from that... I would go with something similar to:

American Audio's DCD-Pro210 Dual CD Player

or...

Numark's CD Mix-2

Both feature pitch control and bend which is one option you said you needed. These are both dual CD player utilities, but both companies make a single CD version.

If you're not interested in the rack mount hardware, then you'll have to look into something like Denon DN-S3000 Table Top DJ CD Player, but anything like this is going to be considerable more expensive.

None of these machines feature Timestretch either... so you're going to have to use the computer for that if you really need it. Personally, I'm not a big timestretch fan, so it wouldn't really be that big a deal to be without it.

I say if you really want hardware, save your money and buy the first rackmount from American and you'll be just fine.

Save your money and buy an actual turntable. Wel atleast that's my opinion. If you want to change the tmpo or pitch. Rip the CD onto your harddrive and mess around with some "legit" software. I use to use Sounforge. It was great for samples.
