Stop Saving Au Format ?

I got a 2000xl with a zip drive. Everytime I save a PROGRAM, the the MPC saves AU format files along with the .wav files I wanted to save. How do I stop the Au Format files from being saved? thanks

Then I'll say it again. I've never HEARD of an AU file. Anyone else?

(BTW, I've heard of AU files, just not from my MPC)

Isn't that an audio format for Unix??? Are you swapping your disk from the MPC to the computer? Are you using Unix man? Do I ask alot of questions?
You should only be able to switch between .wav or .snd when saving a sample on the 2KXL.

Winblows in their inifinite wisdom decided to use file extensions to identify what type of file you are looking at. The decision as to what thnigs are called (Next sun au snd etc) is completely arbritrary and can be changed at will by windows or installed software.

You can change the description but I am not sure exactly how since I gave up on windows.

Try this...
Open up the folder where you have the samples in.
Just right click on the file and "RENAME".
Rename your sample and put ".wav or .snd" at the end of it. Hit enter.
But... if you do this, you will f*ck up and programs (.pgm) saved with those samples.

News for you system admin, windows is calling it a "au format" because it already has an extension of .snd

Whether you can actually see the extension is another "how silly is windows" discussion.

Then he should have saved it as a .wav in the first place. CASE CLOSED.
