I usually only use the NV slider in the trim screen, it's much quicker then the jog wheel for choppin' samples.

Does that apply to the non-XL?

Auto Chromatic - (Hey Lampdog how does this help you when creating Bassline, what does it actually do?)

Have you ever been in 16 levels and just couldn't get one note that lies between the pads, a tune that doesn't exist in the 16 levels? I use the step edit to tune that one note without making a program or I just make a program with autochromatic and get 64 levels instead of 16 levels. That way I have a program made in case I wanna use it again later.
please anyone shed some light on how to use the slider. I know how to operate it but never really see the point. Any tricks?
There are many tricks I perform with the slider on very short samples cause it only retrigggers with a retriggering sample. It's useless to me on a long sample or loop cause it's not real time like q-link. If it was I would be in heaven. In the pass with a snare/piano/sample roll I used it on a break to sublty increase/decrease filter or tune, I have used it on a 1-2 cycle sinewave (VERY short loop) and since the sample is so short it retriggers very fast and you can recreate slides. I have used it to have a congo play in the background and simulate the congo making it's way up to the front of the audio by using the attack/decay. There are more but I can't put it out there all at once you know.

Explaining how to make a single cycle loop is a process that I don't wanna explain cause it might take a while.
short version though, a cycle looks like and backwards "S" shape layed on it's side. That would be a maybe a sinewave, loop that in the MPC/PC and adjust the start and ends until you hear no clicks and pops. Use the NV slider on that sample.

I have the XL, I don't know if it works on the 2000. Load a sample, go to the Trim screen and hold Shift while moving the slider.

I've had my MP goin on 2 years, and I'm still learning sh*t I never knew it could do...trim with the slider? Oh word, I can stop wearing out my wheel trimming samples?

Lamp, my man...can you go a lil more in depth about activating the "autochromatic" whatchamathing you was talkin bout?

I never heard of it...tell me it's not some plug in, 'caue I run into that problem of in between the 16 levels alot

never use mpc to sample anymore. Ha! How's that? Sounds dumb huh?
But i sample and chop everything on the pc now. In fact i only load one or two pgm. files into my MPC, and do the rest with racksamplers and software.

You go to shift+6, then whatever drum your working sample is in. Hit AUTO and choose your working sample to use and it will tell you some stuff and you can just go through it and DO IT to just get started real quick like. Now go back in shift+6 and you know that is where you can choose your DRUM right? Well one these can now also be set to that program you just made. Go into whatever DRUM you want and highlight the DRUM name at the top and use the wheel to change it and hit the pads to check out the sound at the same time to make sure you have it.. Also to make an AUTOCHROMATIC program, it's in the manual if you need it in black and white but you knew that already right? Try out the program now..

I pretty much use everything. . not all on the one beat, but when experiementing. nv sliders rocks for wav editing / altering a note.
auto chromatik dope for melodies and baselines. fx nice, for spicey..
