Wav or SND files?

I just got my MPC2000xl, and ive tried to load up .wav files, this doesnt work? I searched and it said something about .snd files. Does someone know a program where i can convert these?

if the xl is anything like the 2000, you should be able to load .wav files....

dont think there is a need to convert them to .snd files..maybe those files you tried were messed up or something? if it has an option to load .wav files from the LOAD screen, then it reads them...

where did you get the (wav) files from?

Does it not load them or does it say "IMPROPER FORMAT" or some sh!t like that? If it does, then thier the wrong type of .WAV file. There's like3 or 4 diferent types of WAVs.

i just took them off the computer put them on a new zip disc and went to load em up, but nothing. Doesnt even recognise they are there. But i have another zip that has drums on it that the person who i bought it off gave to me, they are SND files and they work.

When you transfer files from cpu to mpc, format the disk on the computer using Fat16.That should work.

I format mine under "FAT". There is no "FAT16" on my PC, just "FAT" or "FAT32". The FAT32 format won't be recognized by the MPC.

You can use Fat32 also.If i'm not mistaken.I haven't formated a disk in awhile.

i wonder why i always read about having to format the disk...i've never had to format my zips and i never really had problems

Me either only problem I've had was broken zip drive

Most Zip disks come formatted to either PC or MAC. But if you reformat, than you need to do it in your PC, or your PC won't recognize the zip. But if you format incorrectly on the PC, your MPC wont read it. I just finished formatting a couple of disks i picked up at a yard sale and if I did them fat32 my MPC wouldn't recognize them. Had to use normal FAT.
