How do you produce on the MPC1K?

This is a detailed question, but when producing on a MPC, do you sample 4 bars of hi-hats or do you sample just the hi-hat sound and begin sequencing with the rest of your sounds.

if i had a mpc1000 i would sample myself playing real hi hats.
its too bad you can't listen to the sequence while you sample on the 2000xl.

just curious, why would you want to sample a hats sequence and not lay them down yourself? the hats are one of the easiest things to program outside of snares

I was using hi-hats as an example. Some ppl record phrases on it and some ppl use hits and others use a combo of both. But I was asking how everyone normlly does it. I guess it depends on the instrument. Like a bass guitar you may want to sample the 4 bars while you may only need a hit for a hi-hat? #2, how would you run your outputs to seperate each track? Digital MIDI mixer or what?

do you how to separate it in the MPC or how we arrange the pads to the outs or ??

I have a few different sampled breaks of just 16th notes on hi-hat that I like to use sometimes.
It gives a slightly more human feel, because each hit sounds slightly different, and it's not quantized. It sounds less 'robotic.'

But then again, sometimes robotic is what you want. Depends on the beat.
