I now realize I suck.
So is buying a lot of records the key to making hot beats for yall? Because I usually buy a few, and then really focus on them. I listen to them a few times, and sample them as much as I can...then I buy a few more. I have less than 100. But I have thousands of samples.

Hey yo, this kids got a gift, he's only 13. I started making beats when I was 15. That was 4 years ago. I just started putting together a real studio. With hardware and stuff. Before all I used was fruityloops and vsti's. Keep up the good work man, and when the haters come around, just blow them off your shoulder

yo it doesnt matter how many records you have to make hot beats ,
i just strated producing51/2 years ago, but i've been colecting for over 25+ years, i've been djing for 26 years so alot of the records i have are for personal party use , but i also use them for sampling,
all the records on my wall are 12" and the one under and around my TT's are albums.

just remeber it's not how many records you have it's how you use them.

Damn... save some vinyl for the rest of us. It's always a good sign though when I can drop an album on any cut and sample it after hearing it for the first time. Aint that a good feeling?

sorry, I had to wipe the drool from my chin. I've been collecting around 3 years now, I'd say I have around 4-500, I am a slow collector too, but since I have moved to a bigger city(orlando) ive probably copped around 40 QUALITY albums. I am not including my hiphop selection which isn't too impressive tho.

Yeah, I read a Diamond interview once where that asked him about his records and he said he only had a few hundred.... he said "it ain't how many you have, it's what you have"

Diamond: "I got a thousand old records in my crib/ I used to hustle but I never did a bid." Back in 91 or so.

I got about 4000 LPs. about 500 12"s and about 700 45s. Buy as much as you can and be out there as often as possible. The more you see, the easier it is to recognize rarity.

I thought Buckwild was the one with all the records....... appoximately 400,000 from what I've read......

This diamond interview was in Elemental a few years back.... I'll see if I can dig it up.

By DETO22 Thu Aug 11, 2005 10:24 pm
1987-"inhereted" my step fathers crate...probably 30-40 records...
Today- just over a 1000...some lost, stolen, in three different studios.
some seperated from there sleeves (ouch)
But the collection has been stagnant for a few years.
