Does anyone know if this can be used on the 2kXL? And before I bombed with "Do a Search"... well, I did.
I just want to know because I've seen some SCSI 50 pin dvd drives on E-bay lately. I wanted to swap out my Smart and Friendly cd-rom SCSI drive out it's external case for a dvd drive.
Thanks for the replys.

It *might* work , but why would you want to change a working setup?

to make it even weirder, i think even if one drive didnt work, another might.

im going thru that right now with my s3000xl. i got a scsi cdrom but it doesnt work with the sampler. ive used other ones in the past that did work so i gues sit was just imcompatible.

SCSI DVD works:

If all else fails try Google, which actually turned up that link with

dvd mpc2000xl scsi dvd

as the No. 1 result. Imagine that!!

I think the big question here is "will the MPC2000XL read (samples and/or Programs) from DVD-Rom disks.

While it has been confirmed that the MPC will read from DVD-Rom drives, has this been tested with DVD-Rom disks or is it just reading regular CDs.
Since the whole purpose is "to combine all my samples to dvd's so it will hold more".
Has anyone tried DVD disks with 3 or 4 gigs (or more) of stuff.

"has this been tested with DVD-Rom"

It has and the S5/6k does also.

All this has been discussed before and is available at the Akai Pro Samplers Mailing list archives.
