hey just wanted to get your opinion on some of those plastic bags for records, you now the ones the hole LP fits in to. i'm lookin to buy some but there's a few different sizes in mil .05 ,2.5, 3. mil

i just been scoring on some real gems lately and i want to keep them in the same condition ,

i've checked out sleeve city, is there any other spots that sell these plastics , at sleeve city for
$12 you get a 100- .5 mil

$14 you get 100-2.5 mil

$20 you get 50-3mil

if you use these where you pay from and whats the cost on them

should i check COSTCO or OFFICE DEPOT
what do you think

Hey EDE, I'm not sure about the thickness......but I've heard that you should get the ones that are really glossy, slippery, and very see-through (like the ones that comic book people use.)
Supposedly, the ones that are slightly more 'cloudy' deteriorate faster over time, and might stick to your LPs.

I'm not sure if this is true or not........I hope not, cause a shtt-load of my LPs are in bags of the latter type.

Every now and then I'll buy a bunch of sleeves (that's what I call 'em). The only ones that I can buy locally that I know of are the thin, grey ones that itchy said. So hopefully what he said isn't ture, but for real, they don't feel like good quality when you hold them in your hand.
Nearly all of my record are in these sleeves, and sometimes the odd one will start to split at the open end where the front and back are joined together.

Gonna check out TTLab for some of those for the lps that are closest to my heart :) .... Thanks dcypher.

i copped 1000 of them for like $82 bucks, i think they were 3 mil or some chit, cant remember... gotta cop some more of those, i used the whole batch already

im pretty sure you can get 1000 for like 60 bucks or so thru that record collector magazine that is in most of the vinyl shops, its on newspaper print and its free, check the ads, there will be a RECORD SUPPLY DEALER in there somewhere...

the illness is the resealable japanese sleeves though... they a lot more expensive, but its worth it for those valuable jewels that you aint gonna break out too often...

Hey man I don't suppose you could post a pic of turntablelab's plastic sleeves? After asking a few records stores I go to with no luck I want to go ahead and order a few of these, but don't want to waste time or money on ordering one pack only to find they aren't what I think they are.

If you can you can, if you can't, thats cool too.

Cheers bro, they're the same ones that I got at the moment. So lucky I didn't order them.

http://www.bagsunlimited.com/cart/browse.asp?subcat=10

Found place if anyone is interested. There seems to be a few stores like this on the net.

I was talking to a guy in a store today and asked him about the sleeves he uses in-store. He gets them made with the store name and details printed on the front, so that sucks, but they're the better sleeves (thicker/glossy). He wasn't hesitant to give up the name of the company that makes them for him, so I'll hit them up.... only thing is they have a minimum order of 500 or 1000.

Thanks again dcypher
