Yo anyone here making drum and bass on the 1K and does the sequencer hold tight with the beat programing running ?

i'm not making DNB on my 1k and i don't know what you mean by the 2nd part of your ? but i think you are asking if you can on the 1k and i feel sure you can, especially if you double tempo.

If it's simple beats your after it would be a great machine especially if you were working all your samples in the computer, but if you want to mangle breakbeat samples and have the beat changing every bar and hundreds of snare rolls al a Old Skool Jungle you'd probably be better off with a more 'hands on editor' sequencer as step editing in the 1k's not very fast.

Damn thats a long sentence

Yea thats what i was meaning about how it handles drum and bass as the beats are pretty fast and complex so you recon its a little slow on the editing side ?

Well it'll HANDLE drum&bass no problem....it's more wether YOU can be bothered programming in really intricate parts....look at this Cubase edtor

Image

whereas on that you can draw in hundreds of notes and modulation etc, the mpcs step editor is not as 'friendly'

However I'd say used creatively, with multiple percussion tracks and good breakbeat programming skills the mpc would be pretty cool for drum and bass.

Also with no timestretch maybe something like yamaha SU700 that stretches your loops to tempo would be more suitable....

Lots of types of D&B/different techniques. Reckon most modern stuff is made in a laptop though...

keep us posted

I've played around with DNB on my MPC. i don't do any glitch or mega editing tho. I think that sound is a little bit played out.

Ive programmed som DnB onthe MPC 1000, Lots of Shit Going on and I can vouch for timing glitches, especially when setting up to goto the next sequence. the problem even happens in song mode.

it lags just before it switches and then trys to catch up.. Very annoying.
