chopping vocals

yo peeps, i have been making some beats, and letting some cats spit on the plates seen, the thing is tht its hard for a non known producer (beat maker)combined with a non known artist to get any serious, recognition. so i wanted to do a couple remixes of some tunes, like taking the vocals from one song and placing them on my beats, i am not a turntablist, does anyone know how to actually do this, i want to know how much to chop the vocals, like should it be like 5 words a phrase, or what, and how do iget the background music out of the vocals. i dont expect it to be 100%. any ideas??? cool seeen

Some vocals are recorded in mono, which can be somewhat seperated from stereo vocals and stereo instruments via Analog X Vocal Remover or something similar. You might still hear some faint background sounds still remaining though.

download acapellas from kazaa would be oneway, i also got this electrix eq killer that someone here told me about in here and it kills different frequencies so you can isolate vocals or basses up to a certain point but it definetly helps out.

I sample the entire accappella into the MP... but speed the beat up to save memory. If it still aint enough room I'd chop the verses from the chorus and play them in order. I get most of my accappellas from 12' singles.
