well ive got a g5 but i prefer to make the beat first before i lay it down on a multitrack sequencer, id rather do my time stretch and chopping up on the mpc to be honest
how good is the timestretch on the 2kxl, how far in % will it stretch until the audio starts to fuk up?

IMO
If I had to do it all over again... I would get the 1K. Only because I use music programs on the PC so the 1K would definitly benifit me more on that aspect. But don't get me wrong... I still dig my 2KXL. But if I hit the Lotto tomorrow... I'll ditch it for a 4K... NO DOUBT!!!

i went from 1k to xl

i really miss not being able to sample while in play. that's kind of rough cuz now i cant sample little keyboard parts and things like that. other than that it's been golden. i expected the 32MB limit to be a hassle but it hasnt come up even one single time.

but really theyre 2 different machines, IMHO one is not better than the other. a big part of me getting an XL was just curiosity, i.e., all i know is the 1k - what am i missing?!!

so now i know, and really theyre so different that i really dont have any regrets. it's like do i ride a motorcycle or a speedboat?

i've had my xl for a long time now, i love it.

sometimes I wish I had the 1000 just because I use the computer for all my sample editing, it seems like it would be a lot faster.

however, I don't know if I would like the smaller pads, who knows...

i never had my own 2k. But I did go from a 1k to a 4k. I use only the 1k now every once in a while when it calls for it I will use the 4k. but when I use it its not for the sampleing, it more for all the instruemens that I have access to inside. I can do all my sampling and chopping in the 1k. So there is no way that I would up to a 2k just for zoning and time streching.

I would definitly say 2kxl if you do not like computer for editing samples, as I do not. People spend to much time looking at wav's instead of listen to music.
But if you do all your sample edits on computer 1k is proably much easy to work with. I have 2kxl and my friend has 1k so I've got a chance to use 1k some. I really like 1k and hope to cope a used one for cheap but again if you dont rely on computer to edit samples and such you cannot loose with 2k!

I had a 1K--and went to a 2K XL MCD. The 1K is def. faster at loading. Time stretch and resampling on the 2K is "I've fallen and I can't get up!" SLOW!

2K positives--lift up screen and optional 8 outs. Other than that I say the 1K is better cuz I don't time stretch.

yo Eagle Eye!

id say stick with the 1K and get yourself a sampler with different characteristics!!! because at the end of the day the 1k and 2kXL are both 16 bit samplers, and probably have circuitry of a similar quality!!!

maybe your just buying the 2KXL for its looks, or the way its pads feel?? im not sure!! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

but i know this one guy whos got a 1K and an Akai S950 and the S950 bangs!!! the samples sound so warm, so compressed and so punchy because of the old Akai 12 Bit convertors and circuitry!!!

will buying a 2KXL help you make better beats??? you should ask yourself that!!!

I'd be missing the quantizizing functions of the 2kxl if I had to take an 1K... the quant. function with earlier/later and stuff...afaik the 1k hasn't got that specific quant function?

and ren- is that kingkooba in your avatar? or what was his name? he's that dude from this boxing game on the first nintendo console huh?
