**D.J'S WITH MPC'S**

When I go to live shows I always see D.Js using a MPC on stage. I was just wondering why???

they sometimes add sounds to the tracks they are playing. to fatten them up and give the dj set the indiviuality

i seen this when UNKLE was in town, they used an XL and a KAOS pad, was dope!

I do all my seq on the mpc so the rappers just rap over it whenever performing live. .

yeah me to i'm learning to add my mpc creations in to my TTmixin

i want to create my own tunes to play,

cause i'v got a classic collection of music to mix with,

most times I see a dj rocking the mpc, its usually just for "looks", like that cat from linkin park, all he does is look angry and bang on the mPC like dude from Limp bizkit.

matter of fact, the only non-hip hop DJ's I give love to (I mean the cats with bands) is:
well, none.
MMM/Beasties, you could say they are a punk band, I guess.

but:
Dj lethal--? all he does is look tough and do baby scratches.
Dude from limp bizkit is the same
Mr. Hahn, ahahahahahah in the video with the xecutioners, he looks so out of place, his cuts arent even on time in the video.

matter of fact, what is with videos totally misrepresenting DJIng, like in that tony touch video, the decks aint even hooked up to the mixer, you'd think the dj would spot that and just be "hey, can we set up the decks for real?"

now, on the flipside, I seen gangstarr and the MPC is actually an integral part of the show, so in that case, its ill.

BUT I see waaaaaay more of the former then the latter.

yeah i went to this rave a couple years back and i brought my bag of goodies with me , and i wnet to hang out to see who was spinning there was no one up there, theyb didnt even have the booth hooked up , so i asked to talk to the guy in charge, i told asked him if i could spin, he told me that they were waiting for this dude to hook everything up, i told him i could do it, so i hooked this party up, and as soon as i started playing like twenty muthaf@ckin dj's show up and tell me that they were on the flier,



yet these mutha f@ckers dont know sh!t about hooking up equipment.


i just got to say if you gonna perform kno your sh!t, kno how to hook it up, in case something goes wrong,

word? dang that is crazy. The first thing I did was sit down and figure out how to connect my gear.

putting in work with the tables and mpc gives a lot of expereince in programming beatz that move crowdz.

down here in New Orleans, Manny Fresh used to DJ high school dances with his beat machine and tables

he got more gigs because people felt he delivered a better show then the average dj

incorporating a beat machine into a show is phat

I do use my mpc with turntables as well. But i've found it's better to have another dj with me concentrating on the decks, while i operate the mpc. I agree that most cats just have it there because it looks cool, but it's not too easy to program beats while mixing. You could have some sequences ready to go, and mix those with records, but that doesn't add too much cause a dj can flip an instrumental and mix it with another vocal as well.

Ideal would be a dj, and 2 guys on mpc's. I'm trying to do that next month, but i still gotta find another producer. Anyone near Amsterdam interested?

I'm a little late on the convo. But yes, I have seen some "Dj's" bring their MPC's when they could have just recorded it onto a CD or mini disc. They don't even use the turntables, just stand behind their MPC and press play. But then again, I saw the Living Legends play, and their Dj played everything off of a mini disc, and did the same baby scratch with the same sound for the entire show.

i agree. althought i would much rather prefer to rock up with an mpc than some cd's or md;s. mainly cause i can remix my patterns live. and i never touched decks really. in hiphop cause its so big, there always gonna be dudes with there akai fashion accesorie. rockin up to a show. smashing the pads with drum sticks or a large fish

I dunno about all cats who do this but MR. DIbbs can pull it off pretty sick. As far as linkin park and the rest of those ass clown dj's they're nothing but an ornament or a target pic one. Word up to sinista for telling x- men to go screw when they worked with Linkin park. he is a REAL DJ

somebody told me that manny fresh uses fruity loops for all his shit. thanks for clearing that up!
