recording from mpc...

I just wondered how you guys record your music. I´m doing it from line out mpc to line in Computer. The problem is, that certain sounds disort. The sound quality is also not what I really want. So is there a better way to record my beats???

what soundcard have you got?? On-board? if so, that's the reason..

I started off similar to you except instead recording directly into the computer i recorded into a CD burner deck. Do mind that I've always had some kind of mixer. Oh yeah, no distortion. Playback was just as it was when I recorded it in.

I record from the MPC through a 12 channel mixer into a CD deck.

i record into a vs 880 hd recorder then i go to disc after i clean up the sound with some efx and EQing.

but i also upload my tracks to my computer via the direct line in.

i dont use the computer for any production work, strickly uploading and some downloading of sounds,

depends on the song.

so you record every single track via line in Isn´t that a bit stressfull

What is the most easiest way to interface effects thru an external component via MPC MIXER recorder etc.

I use Clown Blaster Audigy Platinum line in.

So which mixer would you recommend. Do you pretend that I have the extension outboard???

What kind of sound card do you have? A good mixer won't matter if you gotta a cheesy sound card. Mixers to check out are mackies or beringher or tascam , etc. Your main concern should be your soundcard if you plan to record on your computer.That is one place you don't wanna go cheap on. Sound cards that are cool , check out any card by echo , m-audio MOtu, Digidesign and you should be cool.

I record through a Echo Layla 24/96 soundcard that cost me 7 bills, it's clean as hell and never gave me any headache's on a Dell Dimension 4100. The last album I recorded in June of my band is being played on the radio in Chicago every week and I could hardly tell the differece from our cd and other's on the radio. It's not all about the soundcard also, everybody's talking about the audiophile also(probrably 300$), it depends on recording technique and preamps, mic's, musicians, etc. on and on and on...

unfortunately I can´t afford any more expensive eqipment. I tried to find a way to trigger the sounds from my computer. I saved the sequence on the mpc and loaded the midi file into cubase. Then midi out computer to midi in mpc. The problem is, that the mpc doesn´t receive any midi signal. Am I doing something wrong???? There must be a way to trigger the sounds from my pc. Please help I´m really frustrated...

Buy a fukcin vintage Tascam portastudio for $250 (the ones with the real faders and colored knobs) get some tapes, and hit the big red record button and the play button at the same time.

the vs880 which I still barely know how to use, although old, is a great way to record beats..songs, do basic mixing, EQ'ing, etc. The sound is great. MPC---> right into the VS...---> CD, cassete, whatever...
