I just bought a MPC3000, but dont know really know anything about the process of making music. I was wondering should I just read the manual first or learn some basic music theory? For example bars, time sig, etc?

Thanks, FDS!

right now you have a classic machine. music theory can be a plus.take your time reading, checking out this site, play around with the 3000. being a producer does not happen overnight. if there was a way a fairy god mother that can give us that gift, everyone here would be banging out beats and being top of there game. you have to take control of that 3000 and make her your b**ch and tell her to hit the track and bring you your scratch! the music is in you. don't force it or it will never happen. i wish you luck, do your thang.

Maybe you should trade your 3000 for my one thousand. The 1k is more of a starter mpc. The 3k is super advanced. I'm ready to move up and you have something you are not ready for..... we should definitly trade mpc's. I'll ship mine to you and you ship yours to me. :D :D :D :D
Don't listen to these guys who are probably going to try and tell you not to do the trade. But they are haters. We should definitly trade! Somebody is going to come on the board and say stop trying to trick the newbie. But you shouldn't listen to them.........I'm not trying to get over on anyone. I am trying to help you out with a nice friendly trade!!!!!

if you can count to four steadily you can make a beat. the beats should make themselves w/ the mpc you have... go to the 3k/60 forum and ready all posts..help yourself first, then come back w/ specific questions.
welcome to the forums.

ill tell you what...buy a copy of fruity loops and practice on that. that's what helped teach me all about bars and sequences and actually what goes into a beat.

grimaybeats that was funny as hell
