well, its simple but u need to keep your head with it
1) you have two sounds (two pads) both on NOTE OFF (or more sounds)
2) you play a bit with the pads to find a combination you like
3) you take a fresh empty track to record your nice combination
4) after the recording you listen if everything hits at the right time (you can use quantising or none, it dont make a difference)
5) if everything hits at the right time you stop the playback and go to the "step edit" screen
6) you will see the combination you played like a timeline and you dont want no empty gaps in them so you look at the first note you played (probably on 001.01.00)
7) now you go and look for the second note you played (example: 001.02.48) -> an easy way is to press "locate" and "the right event arrow" that way you jump to the next event

the duration needs to be exact (or a bit more) to make a nice flow so you calcutate the duration. in this example you need a duration of 96+48=144, meaning from 001.01.00 to 001.02.00 is 96 and from 001.02.00 is 48
9) repeat step 7 and 8 for the rest of the notes you played
hope this helped... have fun with it!
PS: 1 BAR= 384 ; 1/2 BAR= 192 ; 1/4 BAR= 96 ; 1/8 BAR= 48 ; ...
you see why a calculator can come in handy
